There is a recent book about the post-WW I division of the Ottoman Empire by the victorious powers. (ISIS keeps a clear memory of it as a historical grievance -- hence the triumphalist pictures of "the end of Picot-Sykes" as they called bulldozing the berm that marked the Syria-Iraq border.) I've never read it, but the title is marvelous: A Peace to End All Peace.
