What looked like it could be an anomaly is beginning to look like a real thing in Kentucky. The Democratic challenger to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Alison Lundergan Grimes, is leading in a new poll from Public Policy Polling (PPP) by 2 points, on the heels of McConnells primary win. Thats right if this is McConnells post-primary bump, hes in trouble.
The poll contains a flood of bad news for McConnell. Eighty-nine percent of respondents are more likely to vote for a candidate who will pass legislation to create jobs. By an 80%-14% margin, voters (including 70% of Republicans) want a candidate that will close tax loopholes on millionaires. Seventy-eight percent of voters want a candidate who will end gridlock and partisanship. Seventy-six percent want a candidate that will make sure that the rich and corporations pay their fair share of taxes, and by a margin of 63%-31% voters oppose cutting taxes for the wealthy and corporations.
Mitch McConnell opposes everything that Kentucky voters said they supported in the paragraph above. Whats even worse for McConnell is that voters strongly oppose what he supports. McConnell has been a vocal supporter of tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. McConnell has personally blocked a wide range of job creation bills in the Senate, and he has publicly admitted that he is using gridlock as a strategy to destroy the Obama presidency.

Sanity. What a concept. Well said.
You've been here since 2002 and you haven't yet figured out that this is NOT a Republican forum? This is a CONSERVATIVE forum. Conservatives of all stripes are welcome here, whether they be Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or other. If you are a Republican and a McConnell/Boehner-supporting Liberal, you really are in the wrong place, Kemosabe...
It’s too late to save the DC insiders. Losing a few will reform the party. With Obama in the White House for two more years, what impact with a Republican Senate have? We’re going to end up with 48-50 seat this year at a minimum, so nothing will get through the Senate. If there are 51-52 Republicans, we still have 2-3 turncoats who vote for Obama nominees. Going in to 2016, I really don’t care who runs the Senate, frankly. Boehner/McConnell are such pathetic leaders, they’ll probably do more harm than good, like they did in 2011 and 2012.
If I was in KY, I’d probably end up voting for McConnell, but I would cast my vote for the Dem in MS. The conduct of the party there is not forgivable. Calling your own voters racists is below the pale.
I despise the GOP, but I still hate democrats far more. I probably will not be willing to put party before my failing country. We is outta options.
Well done Mitch, let's see how going to war with your base works on election day.
I will vote for Joe Carr! As many times as I can.
To hell with RINO’s too...
McConnell is an insidious and vile oligarch who should be removed from office, no matter what his party.
To reward him with reelection and with the Majority Leader position would be granting amnesty for all his treachery.
For me, it’s not about partisan politics this time. It is about a career crony. They are bad, regardless of party.
This may be the only way for the GOP to learn to stop alienating their base.
You have a valid point there.
Yes. Those who want the Democrat to win are not conservative.
They are nihilists to the point they are sincere, not believing in anything and being broken by fear and cynicism.
But they are also just liberals who favor the Democrats.
I’ll vote against McConnel even if it means the Dems keep the senate. It will certainly send a message to the GOPe.
Still waiting to find out how electing Democrats furthers the Conservative cause. You best listen to Ted Cruz. He knows how things actually work.
Just as northeastern republicans are not necessarily conservative, southern democrats are not always all that liberal.
But that’s not really relevant to me. We need to clean house down here, it means I’m voting for the person most likely to defeat McConnel, regardless of party. Now, if it was Nancy Pelosi, I’d feel differently.
However, the true myopia belongs to those who make those accusations and continue to march, mindlessly in support of these people even after their actions in MS.

Hey, Mitch, bet those horrible Tea Party votes are starting to look pretty good, huh.
REMEMBER MISSISSIPPI
And you are some one who enjoys being abused by your own party.
You like it when the GOPe’s dump on you, piss on you and call you a racist.
There are some folks who like being abused. The GOPe’s will gladly
give it to you as long as you enjoy taking it.
Plenty of openings in the fields for a good ‘scarecrow’.
Old Mitch would make a dandy one to scare off birds. At least then he will be providing a useful service.
