Mitch McConnell, the NRSC and the Chamber of Commerce went all in for moderate Thad Cochran in Mississippi (57% conservative rating with Heritage Action):
Back in Washington, Cochrans most important allies resolved to muffle their anxiety and stick with him for another three weeks. The Chamber of Commerce polled the race, concluded the senator had a difficult but viable path to victory; the group began brainstorming inventive ways to make a splash in the state, culminating with a sensational commercial starring NFL legend Brett Favre. National Republican Senatorial Committee political director Ward Baker, confronted with Beltway pessimism about Cochrans chances, repeatedly told Republicans in D.C.: We dont leave our people on the field.
But it took 35K Democrats to push him past grassroots challenger Chris McDaniel:
Surprisingly, more votes were cast in the runoff than in the June 3 primary. McDaniel increased his vote from 155,000 on June 3 to 184,600 last night. But the 25-35,000 Dems who crossed over to vote for Cochran gave him the extra margin to surpass his opponent.
This is more reason for Chris McDaniel to run as a write-in candidate in the general election.

And they are voters who will NOT vote for him in the general election!
Nice move GOP elite! Get the democrats to help you lose!
Good job! Way to go.
I don’t believe this is the year to make a change. The country is in too much trouble.
Please don’t drop your party membership now.
Thais is not the time.
Unenforceable against individual voters, but it sounds like it could be used to overturn this sham election.
Correcting the open-primaries problem nationwide would be a decade-long task, *if* the GOP had the political will to press the issue. Which it does not.
A write in for McDaniel is 1/2 vote for Cochran. Vote 100% AGAINST Cochran by voting for the pro-life, pro-gun dem.
WRONG. Wrong, wrong, wrong. When you do that, the ONLY THING YOUR VOTE DOES is to inflate the "legitimate mandate" of the liberal Democrat victor, as if "everybody" just loves what he stands for.
Everyone who thinks this stuff needs to stop should vote FOR a candidate in the general who would act to PROMOTE limited government conservatism, EVEN IF that candidate is an off-party ("third" party is misleading because the Dem and Rep parties are functionally ONE party) with little chance of winning.
That way, your vote SUBTRACTS FROM THE POPULAR MANDATE of whichever liberal wins, the Democrat or the Republican.
Voting for a Democrat is as stupid as voting for a liberal Republican, and EVERY BIT AS DESTRUCTIVE.
When you vote for something, you had better vote for whatever it is you want to win. People who weren't elected aren't the ones causing problems -- the ones causing problems are the ones who were ELECTED. So ANYTIME you vote, you should ONLY think in terms of what will happen if your guy WINS.
That pretty much says it. The corruption unites them.
BUMP!
Yes, it very probably was against the law in several ways.
This is the e-mail the Chamber sent out. I keep asking to get removed form their dist list, but no matter how rude I am they just keep sending me their trash!

Friend,
Last night was a big win for free enterprise.
The people of Mississippi stood up for Chamber-backed Senator Thad Cochran in last nights runoff that saw record-breaking turnout. And in New York, free enterprise champions Representative Richard Hanna and Lee Zeldin secured their partys nomination to run this November.
The U.S. Chamber was actively involved in each race because these candidates are proven, conservative champions who have the leadership to get things done in Washington.
At the beginning of 2014, we outlined a goal of engaging early on behalf of candidates with the ability to win and the courage to govern. Last night was another sign that, thanks to the voices and grassroots support of many of you, those efforts are paying off.
We will continue to back supporters of American free enterprise and vigorously oppose those who stand in our way.
Our country has too much at stake to stand on the sidelines. Free enterprise is the only path to ensure that Americas best days are ahead through continued growth and opportunity.
Last night was a huge success, but the bigger fight begins today. Our focus now turns to November. We are determined to expand our pro-jobs majority in Congress and elect candidates who will get our country back on the right track. This election cycle will be the largest political program in the history of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Nope. The law is there just as a feel good measure. It depends on honesty for its force, and honesty is for suckers. The courts would need SPECIFIC instances of individuals voting contrary to their future intentions. There are issues with asking people to dislose who they intend to vote for, secret ballot and all that.
-— However, its an idiotic open Primary. There is nothing to contest -—
EXCEPT, Dems who voted Dem in the primary are not allowed to vote in the Republican run-off.
They could make up the difference.
“No...write in is not going to work.....it will elect the Democrat!!!”
And what is “not working” about that?
‘Anybody interested in letting the Republican National Committee know what they think: http://www.gop.com/contact-us/
Only takes a minute and a little better than doing nothing.’
Repeating your info so anybody who missed it has a second chance.
I told them to enjoy their pyrrhic victory while they could. They’ll have many future elections in which to regret their sleazy, underhanded, nauseating tactics/victory. I also told them that it takes a special kind of stupid to declare war on the base. The Dems don’t do it. Only the IQ-challenged GOPe leadership is this moronic.
I'm with you, MortMan.
Mississippi just went Democrat. The RNC and GOPe just woke up voting block that has traditionally stayed home.
Rove and Barbor better hope reelection a 76 year old former Democrat was worth it. Because once he dies, there will never be another Republican SenTor.
Actually, it was encouraging black democrats to break the law.
Also, the flyier did NOT ID Cochroach as a R, so when the rats went to vote and were handed a R ballot, were there poll people present to assuage them it was OK to continue?

McDaniel trounced the old liberal Cochoran among republican voters. McDaniels should first protest the result, calling for a full investigation, then run as a write-in candidate. To hell with RINOs.

If a full investigation leads to no change in the election result, then I 100% agree that McDaniel should run in November as a write-in candidate.
