BREAKING: 25,000-35,000 Democratic Voters Carried Thad Cochran to Victory
http://www.thegatewaypundit.com ^ | June 25, 2014 | Jim Hoft

Mitch McConnell, the NRSC and the Chamber of Commerce went all in for moderate Thad Cochran in Mississippi (57% conservative rating with Heritage Action):

Back in Washington, Cochran’s most important allies resolved to muffle their anxiety and stick with him for another three weeks. The Chamber of Commerce polled the race, concluded the senator had a difficult but viable path to victory; the group began brainstorming inventive ways to make a splash in the state, culminating with a sensational commercial starring NFL legend Brett Favre. National Republican Senatorial Committee political director Ward Baker, confronted with Beltway pessimism about Cochran’s chances, repeatedly told Republicans in D.C.: “We don’t leave our people on the field.”

But it took 35K Democrats to push him past grassroots challenger Chris McDaniel:

Surprisingly, more votes were cast in the runoff than in the June 3 primary. McDaniel increased his vote from 155,000 on June 3 to 184,600 last night. But the 25-35,000 Dems who crossed over to vote for Cochran gave him the extra margin to surpass his opponent.

This is more reason for Chris McDaniel to run as a write-in candidate in the general election.

[ Nothing in my opinion justifies voting for a Democrat. If you want to protest, write-in McDaniel.

No Democrat is acceptable, Obama is trying to run out the clock while he lets his Muslim brothers take over. Don’t do anything to help him. ]

I recommend write in and if noo allow on write in, leave blank or vote third party.

That being said I would rather have 100 Zell Millers in congress than even 20 Thads...

Old a Retired Army Guy:

Who would you vote for in the MS General Election?

I wrote a blistering e-mail to the RNC their behavior in Mississippi this morning that I am sure will be routed to the Junk Box.

One of my main points:

Conservatives are not as stupid as Democratic voters.

Great. Enjoy 2 more years of Harry Reid, and probably 2 or 3 new Supreme Court Justices.
Let’s show our anger by shooting ourselves in the head.

Your claim of them “following all the rules” is still in doubt...I think it more likely that they knowingly broke several laws.

One law - though unenforceable states that a person who votes for a candidate in the primary that they do not intend to support in the general, commits fraud. How many of those 30,000 dem voters intend to support Cochran in the general? If it is 20% or more I would be shocked. The machine encouraged this law breaking, and the enforceability of the statute does not excuse their behavior in this. It shows a criminal character at best.

It also violates the law to have voted in the dem primary and then vote in the gop runoff. Did they only solicit the votes of dems who did not vote in the primary? HIGHLY doubtful, in fact, almost surely the opposite.

It also violates the law to buy votes with “walking around money”. No excuse whatsoever for their behavior in this.

There is clear evidence that all of these laws were not only broken, but in collusion with the gop establishment.

Anybody who continues to support the gop in any way is giving tacit approval to a corrupt, criminal enterprise.

Why not vote for Cochran in November and then start a recall campaign after January? No point in giving the Dems this seat and it would certainly send a message to the GOP-E.

How they voted is irrelevant. There are two things that need to be shown in order to even have a chance of over turning an election.

1) That there was voter fraud
2) That the fraud was of such a scale as to have the potential to impact the election.

Here is what I think is the best way forward for the party, and for Mississippi.

Mississippi Election Code

23-15-317. Nomination of nominee when vacancy in nomination occurs between primary election and general election; procedure for withdrawal based upon legitimate nonpolitical reason.

If any person nominated for office in a primary election shall die, be removed after his nomination or withdraw or resign from his candidacy for a legitimate nonpolitical reason as defined in this section, and such vacancy in nomination shall occur between the primary election and the ensuing general election, then the municipal, county or state executive committee with which the original nominee qualified as a candidate in the primary election shall nominate a nominee for such office. Where such a party nominee is unopposed each political party registered with the State Board of Election Commissioners shall have the privilege of nominating a candidate for the office involved. Such nominee shall be duly certified by the respective executive committee chairman. Within two (2) days after such nomination is made by the appropriate executive committee, such committee shall formally notify the Secretary of State of the name of the nominee. The Secretary of State shall thereupon officially notify the appropriate officials charged with conducting the election for the office wherein the vacancy occurred of the name of the nominee. All nominations made pursuant to the provisions of this section shall have the same force and effect and shall entitle the nominees to all rights and privileges that would accrue to them as if they had been nominated in the regular primary election.

"Legitimate nonpolitical reason" as used in this section shall be limited to the following:

(a) Reasons of health, which shall include any health condition which, in the written opinion of a medical doctor, would be harmful to the health of the candidate if he continued.

(b) Family crises, which shall include circumstances which would substantially alter the duties and responsibilities of the candidate to the family or to a family business.

(c) Substantial business conflict, which shall include the policy of an employer prohibiting employees being candidates for public offices and an employment change which would result in the ineligibility of the candidate or which would impair his capability to properly carry out the functions of the office being sought.

Any candidate who withdraws based upon a "legitimate nonpolitical reason" which is not covered by the above definition shall have the strict burden of proof for his reason.

A candidate who wishes to withdraw for a legitimate nonpolitical reason shall submit his reason by sworn affidavit. Such affidavit shall be filed with the state party chairman of the nominee's party and the State Board of Election Commissioners. No substitution of candidates shall be authorized, except for death or disqualification, unless the State Board of Election Commissioners approves the affidavit as constituting a "legitimate nonpolitical reason" for the candidate's resignation within five (5) days of the date the affidavit is submitted to the board.

Immediately upon approval or disapproval of such affidavit, the State Board of Election Commissioners shall notify the respective executive committee of same.

Cochran can legitimately claim reason (a) to step aside. The state party can then simply declare McDaniel to be the new nominee.

McDaniel needs to demand that Cochran appear in public. Let the people of Mississippi see his current mental state for themselves. Cochran's staff has been hiding him from the public throughout this whole campaign. They are perpetrating a giant fraud over the people of Mississippi.

It's not too late to try to force Cochran to withdraw in the best interests of Mississippi, and let McDaniel be the nominee going forward.

McDaniel needs to play hardball on this for all its worth. If Karl Rove can smugly say that Cochran won because of Mississippi's open primary laws, then let McDaniel also try to leverage any of the election laws that he can, too.

Yeah. Good luck.
Most of those Rat voters were Black.
It will be played as “ TEA Party trying to keep Black votes from counting.”

Actually, it was encouraging black democrats to break the law.

Just because the law is unenforceable doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

My note to the RNC

YOUR SUPPORT for THAD COCHRAN and the DIRTY DEMOCRATIC METHOD he used to STEAL THE ELECTION FROM Chris McDaniels, the TRUE REPUBLICAN, was despicable. NEVER AGAIN will OUR FAMILY SEND a DIME TO YOUR ORGANIZATION.
THAD WILL LOSE TO THE DEMOCRATS IN NOVEMBER. Maybe that is what you wanted all along? You need to encourage him to apologize and DROP OUT of the RACE and concede to McDaniels, who TRULY WON... and you all know that!!!!!!!

I’m making my donation today to the Tea Party.
Sorry you are just democrats in disquise...

If you stay at home you give 1/2 vote to the dirtiest of rats, Thad Cochran.

-If you vote for anyone but the pro-life, pro-gun dem candidate, you are giving 1/2 vote to that dirty rat.

To avoid voting for a rat, in the truest sense of the word, vote for the dem, and help destroy the corrupt, lawless, gop.

Those fundraising envelopes are usually postage-paid. When they are returned, the organization has to pay a higher rate than a regular stamp.

“Everyone who thinks this stuff needs to stop should vote for the Democrat in the general election. Mark you calendars, I just said to vote for a Democrat.”

Target the empire builders. Crossovers to zero out Boehner or McConnell or Cochran for instance would be worth the cost of losing three Repcrats to provide the example to the others.

God bless you Polly, a true Patriot!
Many of us here are tired of getting dumped on by our own party.
Unfortunately, there are a few here who seem to love being dumped on.
They seem to enjoy it. It seems to float their boat.

There is no write in in Mississippi. I wanted to do that in 2012 for POTUS. Voted for someone I’ve already forgotten instead, and against the two left wing statists from the two left wing statist parties.

Figure it out. Superficial similarities do not necessarily make apt analogies.

Operation Chaos was not a collusion with the Hillary campaign.

Operation Chaos did not advocate buying votes with “walking around money”.

Operation Chaos did not encourage people to vote for one party in the primary and then vote in another party’s primary runoff.

In cases where there is an “intent to support in the general” law, then Operation Chaos encouraged violating that law.

These are two very distinctly different activities.
