The prospect of electing an intemperate Tea Party candidate who was openly nostalgic for Confederate days was so repellent to many black voters in Mississippi that they did a remarkable thing on Tuesday, crossing party lines to help give the Republican Senate nomination to Thad Cochran, in office for 36 years. Now its time for Mr. Cochran to return the favor by supporting a stronger Voting Rights Act and actively working to reduce his partys extreme antigovernment policies.

He won’t make it back to DC. Wonder if his mistress is going to kick him out of her basement???
Yeah, that’s one way to describe it. Can we have our national divorce now?
Not if he loses in November, and I am going to work my ass off to make sure that happens
VOMIT VOMIT VOMIT. To think that the NY Times was ever considered a respectable publication. Good G-D!!!! I'm ashamed to have my name associated with the GOP after this.
The old fornicator seems rather exhausted by the excitement of riling up the Black Democrats with his hate mail. He may have a limited term.

He’s a despicable bastard who is unfit for office.
And blacks will do what they always do in the general. Vote for the Democrat.
Ping.
The progressive forces of the GOPe, the DemocRATS and their allies now OWN Cochran....AND HE WILL DO THEIR BIDDING if reelected. It would be better for a southern DemocRAT to be elected than Cochran at this point. RINOS, please stay your flamings-—I don’t need it.
FUNTY. Most of the country knows what a joke of a ‘news organization’ you are.
which one??
Both selected candidates where selected by the democrats.

Agreed, the crats can pretty much KMA.
Does this POS news rag actually think conservatives are going to stop trying to throw out squish career politicians who have no interest in representing their values?
3rd party? I have not felt so dismayed and betrayed by an ostensible Republican since Lowell Weicker ran as an Independent for governor, won, reneged on his no state income tax pledge and slapped us with one when I lived in CT.
Just reading the excerpt makes me feel a need to shower.
Does anybody read the NYT? If so, why? Suicide by constant death of brain cells is a sad way to go.
