Rand Paul on Mississippi: ‘I’m for more people voting’
Washington Post ^ | June 25 at 2:34 PM | Paul Kane

Posted on 06/25/2014 3:17:56 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a potential 2016 presidential contender, declined to support tea party critics of Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran's efforts to mobilize non-GOP voters to win the Republican nomination.

"I'm for more people voting, not less people voting," Paul told reporters Wednesday.

Paul, an original tea party icon for his 2010 GOP primary win over the establishment, has worked assiduously the past year on broadening his party's appeal to minority voters, including negotiating with Democrats on efforts to rewrite the Voting Rights Act.

Cochran's vote total grew by almost 40,000 votes from the initial June 3 primary to Tuesday's runoff against state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R). Much of that growth has been credited to courting independent and Democratic voters on the state's Gulf Coast, where shipyard work has been supported by Cochran for decades, and also an aggressive effort to turn out black voters.

agree. Rand Paul is sounding more like his nutcase father Ron, every day.

Time to ditch this fool and look for someone else who is sane and understands reality.

I met his father when he first came into Congress and he was strange back then. The others with him that night were Trent Lott (a big disappointment) and Woodie Jenkins.

It hasn’t changed at all, the party still represents libertarian theory in the reality of political positions.

It didn’t change, and it didn’t become anything different.

OK...let’s have everyone on the planet voting for our politicians, including Cubans in Cuba and North Koreans. Sorry, Rand, but I want American CITIZENS to vote, not ILLEGALS. I don’t want dumb people to vote.

It doesn’t surprise me. I recall his own tactics in his own primary, including producing fake documents to slander Kentucky Right to Life.

Has anyone spent a few minutes to find the entire interview? Haven’t you learned your lesson about MSM sound bites?

He is also trying to find a way to run for president and run for re-election to his Senate seat in 2016 - even though Kentucky law prohibits it.
This isn't given enough emphasis, IMO

Mitch McConnell has a death grip on the Republican Party in Kentucky. And there's no way this law will be changed unless the Kentucky GOP goes all in to overturn it.

Do the math.

What’s this ‘we’ were all duped stuff? I saw through him when he arrogantly give Ted Cruz short shift on the filibuster regarding deathcare.
Anyone who took the time to watch that, learned everything you needed to know about
1. Ted Cruz and his command of the horror deathcare truly is.
2. The brilliant mind of Mike Lee.
3. That Rand was only there for show.

LOL, a topic that hadn’t arisen yet, “gay marriage” even before the word “gay”?
The nearest they came to the still invisible gay power movement, was a general expression of legal equality for homosexual sex.

Name the changes that you claim they made, where they reversed themselves on issues.

How about abortion, they did change from their pre-Roe position of unlimited abortion for 100 days in 1972, to truly unlimited abortion full term, in 1974.

"My how Rand’s forgotten his own TEA party roots....

Paul has calculated that his best path to the GOP nomination is to roll over for the "party rulers". He seems to think he's got the support of conservatives no matter what. He is very much mistaken. This conservative is getting rather disgusted with Rand Paul. So Paul you think painting a fellow conservative as a racist to motivate black voters to vote GOP is a good thing? You think promising more pork and bigger government to motivate progressive voters to vote GOP is a good thing? Paul is falling like a rock with the conservatives that elected him in the first place. Paul is a fool.

You stated in regards to the Libertarian Party: It hasn’t changed at all, the party still represents libertarian theory in the reality of political positions. It didn’t change, and it didn’t become anything different.

Now you contending gay (a euphemism for Homosexual) didn't exist and/or marriage didn't exist to recent times...or that abolition didn't exist?.

. ..Your statement below lays out an evolving position on issues.. a progressing position.

Progressive have taken over in the Libertaran party just as they have the Democrats and the Republican.

When did that happen, and on which issues did they reverse themselves?

You agree there are libertarian philosophy , libertarian principles ...correct?..

That a party name is just a name.. correct?....

There is republican forms of government.. and there is a party named Republican.. they not not one in the same.

There is government that are democracies and there is a party named Democrats... they are not one in the same.

There is libertarian government philosophy ...and there is a Libertarian Party... they are not one in the same.

So give me the foundation of libertarian government philosophy in a simple nutshell..the principles you build your ideas on.. not some party line positions.

Explain government and court imposed gay marriage on the people and on the states as a libertarian?.

A true government libertarian would find this tyrannical.

A libertarian is a mind their business person.

If two people want to make a vow between them..that there business... no state involvement...

If two people want to make a contract..that there business.. and the state may or may not enforce in between the two people..(there are contract the state will not enforce..you can not sell yourself..then is just back to really being a vow).

This fits under "Rights". government is not stopping your its your business to do want you want with who ever.

But then that is the concept of government granted license...license does not give you a right..it gives you a privilege that other do not have..and the government will enforce that privilege on other.

So a license is not a right..because it granted to some and not other..

And it not a contract between to party..because it give goverm granted privilege on people not part of the contract.

You wonder why gay are now running to the court to impose their will on other private citizens?..with the full weight of government force behind them..

that is not libertarian mind you own business.. that is government tyrant ...endorsers by the Libertarian Party

You claimed it, when did it happen, and what issues did they reverse the party on?

I said it didn't happen, and you argued it did, when? Which issues?
