Chris McDaniel may have refused to concede the Mississippi Senate primary without a challenge, but Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) appears to be moving on after the Tea Party suffered primary defeats last night.
I certainly congratulate my colleague, Thad, Cruz said on Fox and Friends Wednesday morning, pointing out that the Republican establishment poured millions into the Mississippi race and only won by a thin margin. Cruz reminded the hosts that he did not endorse a candidate in the Mississippi primary, as he promised to stay out of incumbent Senate races.
But Cruz insisted that Cochrans narrow victory should be a warning for Republicans in Washington, D.C. I think that demonstrates that there is a lot of hunger for change. People are frustrated with Washington, and they're hungry for leaders who will stand up and make the case we need to go a different path, Cruz said.

How difficult would it be for McDaniel to send out stickers to ever voter in Mississippi during the last week of October. Hell, they want to play that game, let’s play ball, Scacecrow! Bob
Cochran ran to the left to get dim votes.
Reagan stood for conservative principals and still got dim votes. Reagan NEVER ran to the left to get dim votes.
The dim votes Cochran got would have never voted for Reagan.
Exactly!
And Cruz will get a lot of dim votes if he runs and it won’t be because he runs to the left.
The problem is not that dem's cheated and broke the law, it's that they did so with cooperation and urging from the RNC RINO's
Now I wonder what old Thad promised them in return?
Nobody is saying he isn’t, but Thad deserves no congratulations for the fraud he pulled off last night.
Assumption: The political prognosticators are correct in predicting that the 'Rats will regain control of the Senate in 2016.
Therefore there will be no lasting benefit to giving the GOPe, as currently motivated, the Senate in 2014.
Let the McDaniel voters with sit home or vote for Cochran's opponent.
Definitely fund McConnell's opponent and vote for same in 2014.
Then Ted should learn that ‘silence is golden’.
I disagree. I think Cruz did the right thing here. It is not merely because it is the classy, gentlemanly thing to do. They are going to need to be be able to work together in the days to come.
As for Cochran...let’s just pray for that man. He is obviously in need of it.
Dave W will show up any minute in his Cochran campaign bus
See you, Ted.
So you wouldn’t vote for Cruz because of this?
I don’t pretend to know how things work in Mississippi, but here in Maryland, if you register either D or R, you can only vote in the appropriate primary. No crossover voting at all in the primaries. In fact, if you register independent, you cannot vote in the primary at all.
“As for Cochran...lets just pray for that man”
I’d rather pray for his wife. Can’t be easy being ditched in a nursing home all alone while your husband has sex with interns and farm animals.
You’re probably right. I’m not going to abandon Cruz over this. However, I do think this illustrates a fundamental error conservatives are making. There’s a huge, ungodly tyranny taking over the country. It’s overtly Communist and it’s stated goal is to completely rearrange, deface America. The crony capitalists (the only constituent the GOP cares about) sees it and is paying to play. Our error is thinking this is still about winning elections. Cochran showed that winning elections is impossible.
Whatever Cruz’s highest aspirations are, there’s no way he can be affective in that role. That is, if his goal is to liberate us. So while Cruz thinks he needs to play nice to become president, what good will that do within a system that keeps Cochran in government? If he understood this, he would be screaming like we are. I think it’s time for vote no confidence and walk out. Work for state sovereignty and purge the states of federal bureaucrats.
I, for one, welcome our new GOPe overlords....................
Conservative politicians have their place, don’t you know?
They have to be perfect in the eye of the media, their uninformed viewers and in all aspects of their lives.
While in that realm, if they are considered or considering the presidency, they must be perfect every day every minute, in every thing they do and say, and if it can be viewed by liberals as controversial, many on the right will turn their backs on him.
If what the guy says can be viewed in any way as supporting a liberal, a democrat, or GOP-E-r, many in the right wing mainstream will turn their backs on him.
He has to be perfect.
Of course they’ve been burned by so many weaklings in the GOP, so there’s some pass issuance.
But Ted must be perfect. And if he’s correct, such as in not entering into the fray of Mississippi politics, which is Louisiana like in its family, generational, back stabbing back room, elitist, nuanced insider qualities, after being baited by some news babe taunting him to get in there and fix it, then the back turning will be ugly.
Then let us pray for both of them. I have no idea of what your reference to farm animals means. I know Cochran is a sad choice for Mississippi...but have never heard anything regarding bestiality connected to him.
Damning with faint praise.
How many years does Thad Cochran actually have left? He may very well not finish out the next six years, in which instance his re-election may well prove to be of no great consequence. What the heck, he may die before January 2015.
There is a back-door possibility that a three-way race, with a Democrat in the running, could prove to be beneficial to Chris McDaniel. All those votes that funneled to Cochran would revert to their natural constituency, the Democrat party, clearly a minority in Mississippi.
But don’t count on it.
