The globe just experienced the hottest May in recorded history, according to reports from multiple organizations. Ocean and land temperatures rose 0.74 degrees Celsius (1.33 degrees Fahrenheit) over the 20th Century average, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). That makes May 2014 the warmest May since the agency started tracking those figures in 1880. Both NASA and Japan Meteorological Agency came to the same conclusion this was the warmest May ever recorded. Overall, this was the second warmest spring ever, trailing only the March-May period in 2010, according to the NOAA.

Really???
What morons...
We're currently in an interglacial period within the current ICE AGE. Yes, we are currently in an ice age. Ice ages have glacial and intergacial periods. When this ice age ends, it will be MUCH hotter just like it has been in the past...
The only good thing about their ongoing pronouncements is most people have tuned the warmists out; too many times crying wolf will do that.
If this report is true, then Greenland is turning green once again.
5.56mm
“I mean, since 1880? That was such a long time ago”
Don’t even be fooled into thinking it goes back that far.
The only chance we have of getting a worldwide temperature reading is by satellites, which have only been orbiting around for around 40 years.
Everything else is an interpolation and BS ‘adjustment’ of a very limited number of land based thermometers...primarily in the westernized world.
May was May here...it was NOT hot...
They are lying arses...
Has there EVER been a modern media report of the coolest month/season/year/decade? No, it is always hottest, 2nd hottest, 3rd hottest or hottest top ten EVER, EVER, EVER.
Another point is only in VERY recent times have the had very accurate thermometers and more importantly placed them in so many diverse places that we did not monitor before.
And we’ve had satellite readings only since Sputnik (1957) with accurate satellites taking temperatures only for the past few decades.
So you, know, it’s all new to us. There is no effort to distinguish anything here. Did NBCNews (MSNBC) point out that thermometers circa 1880 were no where near as accurate as those today? No. And even if they had very precise thermometers in 1880, most of those would be deployed only in big European and American cities or universities. That the red mercury thermometer down at the Dodge City Five and Dime was probably off by as much as five degrees? No.
Its all rubbish.
We must act now to stop the rise in sea levels that has been going on for 10,000 years!
We’re still experiencing lows in the forties at night here in Massachusetts. I find this article difficult to believe.
It’s clear The NOAA and GISS (and Hadley???) have got their orders to end the pause by any means necessary.
As such they are manipulating their Data to make 2014 the warmest year ever and end the pause.
Even though the RSS and UAH each month this year has been anywhere from only the 10th 13th warmest. All months so far at the NOAA and GISS have been the warmest or tied for the warmest ever.
So it wont matter what the El Nino, or record Antarctic sea ice or Arctic do, the fix is in.
I hope the Skeptics are prepared to answer their lies when later this year they claim the pause is over.
Marilyn was much hotter than May.
It’s all because the “scientists” have made the past colder.
Remember these facts:
1. Recorded history is maybe from 1880 or so.
2. A lot of the weather recording stations which used to be in the country are now in cities because the cities have expended.
Really? Here in the Northeast it was pretty damned nice.
Amazing how we’re in record heat after arbitrarily lowering the temperature records of the past.
The Houston area had the coolest May ever recorded. The temperature never broke 90 and that is fine with me!
Ditto. I was cold the whole month
We didn’t have our first 90 degree day in Houston area until just recently. My electric bill for mid-May to mid-June was the least amount I have ever paid for that month in the last 15 years.
Bullsh@t. Complete , utter and obvious bullsh@t
ABQ, NM - I usually put my space heater away in April. Had to put it back in the bedroom until about two weeks ago.
