Lois and everyone of those involved in the cover up should be convicted of treason.

Nothing has caused me to lose trust and confidence in our federal government more than this IRS scandal.

It's all part of the "fundamental transformation." The plan is unfolding beautifully.

Interesting that their customer base is all small and mid-size companies with the exception of Johnson & Johnson and the IRS. It’s probably a small dept or division in J&J, too, not an enterprise-wide license.

Just how did a no-name company with a mediocre customer list win a sole-source IRS contract (i.e., no competitive bidders)? What cronyism and corruption was going on in the selection process? Was this company selected because the buyer KNEW their solution was weak?

Network Solutions — 900 employees
IRS — 900,000 employees

Granted NS would have the technical chops to select a good solution, but there’s that small, nagging scale issue.

Does that mean that the company Network Solutions with its
900 employees is also part of the SonaSoft company. In
other words Rogue companies within the SonaSoft company.
Perhaps their only client is IRS...No bids would have
went out because IRS created all this...

I was thinking small-business or WMDVBE...

WMDVBE

A woman-, minority-, or service-disabled, veteran-owned business enterprise is at least 51-percent owned by a woman or women, a minority person or group, or a service-disabled veteran or group of veterans who are United States citizens or permanent residents, and who also control and run the business.

In cases of any publicly owned business, one or more women, one or more minority, or service-disabled veteran(s) who are United States citizens or permanent residents, and who also control and run the business, must own at least 51 percent of the stock.

Male or female Hispanic-Americans, African-Americans, Asian-Pacific Americans, Native Americans or any other members whom the Small Business Administration or Secretary of Commerce designates as disadvantaged.

Then I looked up the Sonasoft team...

Nope, no officially sanctioned minorities there. Guess it's hard to find an Indian GC.

Well, forget getting help from them. The only thing, THE ONLY THING, that I have against Indians, is the politics that they practice in the USA. I suspect that this group will cooperate unwillingly in investigations against the Dems and the Feds.

Democratic Forum launched to bring community together
October 29, 2010 in Community Post | 0 Comments

From L to R: Yogi Chugh, Congressman Pete Stark, Robin Torello, Joe Johal & Dr. Romesh Japra

FREMONT: Over 250 people gathered on a rainy afternoon on October 24 as Dr. Romesh and Sunita Japra graciously opened their home to launch the Indian American Democratic Forum of Alameda County (IADFAC) in Fremont.

“The main charter for the IADFAC is to bring our community together, a group where 90% people in the people in our County are democrats. The first objective for us is to get members and as many people involved. We need to look at the organizational structure, its bylaws, and create a powerhouse. Our scope is outreach, voter registration, have a speaker series, internships, candidate recruitment, and a fundraising plan. It’s a grass roots operation. It’s your group, so you should get involved,” Joe Johal said, as he energized the audience.

The South Asian demographic in Alameda County has grown over the years. There are approximately 53,798 Asian Indians, of which there are 34,032 Asian Indians in Fremont, 8,187 in Union City, 5,178 in Hayward. Individually our community leaders have done very well but we need to organize ourselves and become a unified voice. The main charter for this group is to bring the people together,” said Joe Johal.

“If we don’t have the youngsters, referring to the population between age 18 to 30, our efforts will be wasted. The youth are our resource. I think what you are doing here today is giving the young people a place to focus. We have the largest group, a wonderful school, an excellent group of educated kid, and with most likely all going to college. We should be proud of what this community has brought to us,” remarked Congressman Pete Stark, referring to the South Asian community in Alameda County.

IADFAC’s primary interest is to further the goals of the Democratic Party,” Congressman Stark told India Post. Yogi Chugh, Chair of the Tri-City Democratic Forum, said in his personal capacity, that “tonight is about the community, moving along the democratic philosophies and making sure that we are good democrats.”

Alameda County Democratic Party Chair Robin Torello told India Post, “Alameda County is the largest democratic party by percentage. We also have more people registering as absentees. There is still time for you to take an active role. You can do a lot of things from now to election day such as driving people to the polls and talking to your neighbors to work together to get good democratic candidates elected.”

Dr. Japra, urged the group to become members, register to vote, vote, and encourage others to vote.” Dr. Japra also urged leaders in other counties to become actively involved. Dr. Harmesh Kumar and Madan Arora are already gearing up to start a group in Contra Costa County.
This event was followed by a fundraiser to re-elect Bill Harrison to the Fremont City Council.

CA17: More on the GOP candidate controversy

By Josh Richman
Thursday, April 3rd, 2014 at 1:34 pm in Mike Honda, U.S. House.

My article in today’s editions about whether Democratic House candidate Ro Khanna and/or his supporters had anything to do with getting Republican Joel Vanlandingham into the 17th Congressional District race had far more complexity than room in the paper allowed.

For one thing, there’s a personal element of bad blood between Vanila Singh – the first Republican to enter the race – and Romesh Japra, the Fremont Hindu Temple chairman who is a staunch Khanna supporter.

When Singh entered the race to unseat Rep. Mike Honda in January, analysts said it could help Honda by stripping Khanna of GOP votes in June’s top-two primary election; in fact, a poll in February found Singh, largely by dint of her party, had leapfrogged slightly ahead of Khanna. But then two more Republicans – Vanlandingham, and another who was kicked off the ballot last week for petition signature irregularities – jumped into the race, potentially splitting the district’s small GOP base and helping Khanna surpass all Republicans in June and go one-on-one with Honda in November.

I hear Japra is a somewhat polarizing figure in the Indo-American community, wielding a lot of influence as chairman of the temple and of the Federation of Indian Associations. It’s the kind of influence some might resent in an old-country, political power-broker sort of way, but still significant enough that it would be hard for a candidate to snub him.

Singh said Wednesday that she and her parents were longtime friends with Japra, who even attended her children’s birthday parties as recently as last summer. But that ended abruptly when he learned she was considering entering this race, she said; since then, he has both spoken ill of her in the community and demoted her mother from a temple leadership position.

Romesh Japra“We’ve lost a friend, or someone we thought was a friend, because of dirty politics,” she said. “The revelation that his closest associates, have actively recruited and signed for a fake Republican candidate to enter the race is shocking.”

That’s not proved, of course, though the evidence presented in my story isn’t easily explained away. It’s also possible as well that if Japra and temple officials were involved in Vanlandingham’s candidacy, they acted without Khanna’s knowledge; American politics is littered with tales of candidates and elected officials being tarred with their supporters’ independent actions. Singh, however, doesn’t buy that.

“What I’ve seen with my own eyes is Khanna following Japra and them working in concert together,” she said. “I would have a hard time to believe this was a rogue element that happened once by chance.”

Mystery volunteer at center of House race’s Khanna-GOP controversy

POSTED: 04/02/2014

EXCERPT

But Singh points to a prominent local Indo-American she says is behind the Joshi-Vanlandingham gambit: Romesh Japra, chairman of the Fremont Hindu Temple, where Joshi serves on the board. Japra is also a staunch Khanna supporter and a former family friend of Singh.

Japra and his wife, Sunita, have given $7,400 to Khanna’s campaign since 2011. Japra said Wednesday he’s not aware of Joshi’s personal political activity and doesn’t know how or why Vanlandingham became a candidate, but he acknowledged he’s doing “everything in my capacity” to help Khanna’s campaign.

Singh said she has seen Japra and Khanna together at various public and private events in recent months, and claims that at one point she heard Khanna supporters intended to run another Republican into the race.

Federal law prohibits tax-exempt nonprofits such as the temple from participating or intervening in political campaigns.

Japra’s e-mail invitation to the Feb. 23 fundraiser he hosted for Khanna carried the temple’s logo, a notification of the temple’s tax-exempt nonprofit status, and a footer saying the message came from the temple. Still, Japra insisted Wednesday that the invitation had been sent from his personal email.

MEET OUR CAMPAIGN TEAM

JEREMY BIRD, General Consultant: Jeremy Bird served most recently as the National Field Director for the 2012 re-election campaign of President Barack Obama, where he had primary responsibility for building a nationwide army of staff and volunteer organizers. Dubbed the campaign’s “Field General” by Rolling Stone magazine, Jeremy was listed among “The Obama Campaign’s Real Heroes” and has been cited as “a former Harvard divinity student who took to political organizing as though it were his higher calling.” He is credited with helping establish a ground game and turnout machine that in 2012 “reproduced – through brute force, dedication and will – a turnout in the swing states that in some cases bested the campaign’s remarkable performance of four years ago.” He was previously Deputy National Director of Organizing for America and served in 2008 first as South Carolina Primary Field Director – leading a 29-point victory – and later as Ohio General Election Director – leading a 5-point victory. Across these roles, Jeremy helped create and implement the Obama campaign’s neighborhood team organizing model – an approach which transformed organizing in presidential politics by merging people-focused, community organizing with empowering and inclusive digital technology and cutting-edge data analytics.

STEVE SPINNER, Campaign Chair: Steve Spinner is a Silicon Valley business executive and advisor to nearly 50 technology startups. He is a top volunteer fundraiser for various presidential, senatorial, gubernatorial, and congressional candidates and other political organizations in the US. Most recently, Spinner served as a California Finance Chair for the Obama-Biden 2012 campaign, having previously been a leading member of the President’s 2008 National Finance Committee. Known for his innovative and collaborative fundraising initiatives, Steve Spinner additionally founded “Technology for Obama” (T4O) and the “Obama Victory Trustees” (OVT) organizations and helped lead the campaign’s “AAPI for Obama” fundraising efforts. He is a former senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, stimulus advisor in the Obama Administration, senior vice president at NBC, marketing executive for the Atlanta Olympics and McKinsey & Company consultant in Asia.

LEAH COWAN, Campaign Manager: Leah Cowan is a proud Pacific-Islander American and native of Silicon Valley who joins Ro for Congress after serving most recently as Regional Field Director for the 2012 Obama campaign in North Carolina. In this role, she led organizing for the Capital Region, a highly-contested area that led the state in winning more votes for President Obama in 2012 than in 2008.

ANTHONY NAGATANI, Organizing Director: Tony Nagatani joins the Ro Khanna team after working alongside Leah Cowan on the 2012 Obama campaign as Regional Field Director for Charlotte, North Carolina. He also served as North Carolina Digital Director in 2011. Prior to getting involved in electoral politics, Tony worked in reality television, with roles in the editorial departments of television shows including “Storage Wars” on A&E and “The Hills” on MTV. Tony is a native of Honolulu, HI.

TYLER LAW, Press Secretary: Tyler is a native of Oakland and returns to the Bay Area after serving most recently as an organizer on the successful Senate campaign of Tim Kaine in Virginia.

LARRY GRISOLANO, Consultant: In 30 years as a political professional, Larry Grisolano has been at the center of some of the most important battles for the Democratic Party and for progressive ideas. He has worked as a field organizer and leader, a direct mail specialist, a media and research advisor and leading strategist. From January of 2007 to November of 2008, Larry served as Director of Paid Media and Opinion Research for Obama for America and Obama-Biden 2008. In this role, he created, supervised and directed a sophisticated opinion research program that provided the strategic roadmap for the campaign. He also managed the paid advertising campaign that delivered the campaign message through television, radio, Internet, direct mail and other print advertising. Ad Age magazine recognized the Obama campaign as “Marketer of the Year,” and the New York Times reported that the television advertising campaign by Obama for America, on an annualized basis, was more extensive than all but two commercial advertisers in the country. In 2011, Larry again served as Director of Paid Media for the Obama-Biden re-election campaign. As a message development strategist, he helped shape the campaign narrative emphasizing the President’s leadership in building a stronger Middle Class economy. Grisolano managed message delivery, creative development and strategic placement of the campaign’s $400 million paid media campaign. He helped innovate a highly effective system for mass media targeting and media integration, maximizing delivery of television, Internet and direct mail messages to target voters.

JOHN KUPPER, Consultant: John Kupper has spent nearly 30 years developing winning messages and press strategies for Democratic candidates and officeholders across the nation. Kupper was on the ground floor of President Barack Obama’s political rise, serving as a message and advertising consultant in both his 2004 U.S. Senate and 2008 Presidential campaigns. Kupper helped edit Obama’s 2004 Democratic Convention keynote speech that rocketed Obama to political stardom, and is acknowledged for his assistance in Obama’s 2007 bestseller, “The Audacity of Hope.” During the 2008 Presidential campaign, Kupper advised Michelle Obama, two of Barack Obama’s half-sisters and his mother-in-law on message and press strategy for their public appearances. He also worked in the speechwriting office at the Democratic Convention in Denver, reviewing and revising many of the hundreds of speeches given over the course of four days. Kupper was the lead message strategist behind Rahm Emanuel’s 2011 campaign for Mayor of Chicago, in which he attracted 55 percent of the vote in a large field of candidates — avoiding the necessity of a runoff election. Kupper subsequently drafted Emanuel’s Inaugural Address and first Budget Message, and continues to advise the Mayor on a daily basis. Prior to the mayor’s race, Kupper served as message consultant and strategist for Emanuel’s 2002 campaign for Congress, and later assisted Emanuel’s successful effort as DCCC Chairman to return the Congress to Democratic control in 2006.

DAVID BINDER, Consultant: David Binder is a professionally trained statistical and qualitative analyst and twenty-three year research veteran. David oversees all projects for David Binder Research. He believes a proper analysis of public opinion cannot be accomplished by looking only at poll numbers or focus group transcripts. “We do a multi-source examination of what’s really going on,” he says. “We include every aspect of life. That includes understanding of news and other real world events. Sometimes overhearing a conversation at a baseball game reveals a new direction to investigate. Because we go beyond traditional research, we better understand trends, links, shifting public opinion, and how a client’s project fits in with the larger perspective of things,” he adds. One of David’s career passions is helping keep good people in government. David is widely respected for his social and political insights. Local and national media seek his observations and opinions on a regular basis. Time, Newsweek, the New York Times and dozens of other publications frequently seek David’s input and quote his findings. David is also a favorite guest of electronic media including ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and PBS stations. In the Bay Area, David is well-known for his live, in-studio election eve analysis on KCBS Radio. He has also appeared on the “CBS Evening News” and “The News Hour with Jim Lehrer.”

LYNDA TRAN, Consultant: Lynda Tran served most recently as Director of Communications for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where she oversaw the agency’s nationwide earned and paid media efforts – including messaging on federal regulations, new automotive safety technologies, and vehicle fuel economy, as well as nearly $30 million each year dedicated to NHTSA’s “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns. Lynda has shaped national media coverage and served as the primary spokeswoman on hot button issues throughout her career. As National Press Secretary for Organizing for America, she helped build grassroots support for President Obama’s top policy initiatives – most notably the Administration’s successful drive to pass historic health care reform. During her tenure as Communications Director to then-Governor Tim Kaine, Lynda developed a comprehensive public messaging strategy to cement the Administration’s legacy and managed breaking news on some of the most prominent events in the history of the Commonwealth. Over eight years in the labor movement, Lynda served as spokeswoman on issues including banking reform and health care, and she helped lead organizing efforts such as the Houston Justice for Janitors Campaign. Over four presidential cycles, she has worked on political campaigns in the key battleground states of Virginia and Ohio, and in the red clay turf of East Texas.

MARK BEATTY, Consultant: Mark Beatty served most recently as Deputy Battleground States Director for the 2012 re-election campaign of President Barack Obama. In this role, he had primary responsibility for the election plans for each of the 10 battleground states and managed the campaign’s $150 million state program budget – the largest on record for any presidential campaign. He also directed the 2012 Obama Campaign Legacy Project – a cross-departmental effort to capture and pass along lessons from the 2012 campaign – and he was previously National Director of Special Projects for Organizing for America. After working as an organizer in Nevada, Kansas, Texas, and Indiana during the 2007-2008 primary election, Mark was recognized for his unique ability to use data to solve problems and found himself among the ten staffers assigned to the campaign’s first “targeting team” during the general election season. As Deputy General Election Director in Ohio, he helped lead the team that delivered one of the most critical victories of Election Day 2008. He is an alumnus of the Boston Consulting Group.

EXCERPT

On April 2, 2013, Spinner was announced as Campaign Chair for Ro Khanna for Congress in his effort to represent California’s 17th congressional district (south Silicon Valley)[21] Working with Jeremy Bird, Larry Grisolano and other senior Obama 2012 campaign veterans, he said “the goal in bringing together the best talent from the Obama team is to run a campaign in a strong Democratic district that operates like a battleground state in a presidential election”.[22]

Public service[edit]
Seeking to help the country in the economic recovery, Spinner served as a stimulus adviser for the United States Department of Energy. Spinner was hired to bring Silicon Valley experience to a Washington bureaucracy.[2] Spinner acted as a liaison between the Recovery Act Office and the Loan Programs Office.[2] Spinner started as a loan program advisor to Energy Secretary Steven Chu in April 2009, a month after the department had approved a conditional commitment for Solyndra’s loan guarantee. He left in September 2010.[23] Spinner served as the DOE’s lead representative on the White House Business Council, White House Innovation Cohort, and White House Automotive Communities Task Force.[24]

In 2011, he was peripherally involved in the Solyndra loan controversy[25] and it was reported that he pushed a loan “across the finish line” ahead of a September groundbreaking ceremony.[26] According to the Department of Energy, Spinner “played no role in the decision-making on or evaluation of individual loan applications” and his role in Solyndra was limited to the timing and production of the ceremony itself.[10] Public documents released by the White House that detail Spinner’s emails to Department of Energy officials confirm this limited role.[27][28][26]
