When CNN rolled out the red carpet for Hillary Clintons town-hall interview with Christiane Amanpour, they did more than just build a set and invite an audience to participate.
According to the Washington Posts Erik Wemple, who attended the event, CNN warmed up the crowd for Hillary and even coached them on how to cheer and make noise to demonstrate enthusiasm for the former Secretary of State.
Note the whoops at the beginning of the broadcast, and near the end of this clip when Amanpour asks about her decision on running for President cheers that were part of the coaching Wemple reports: To add energy to its show (attended by the Erik Wemple Blog), CNN deployed an enthusiastic stage director who coached the audience to applaud at various points throughout the broadcast not in a partisan manner for Clinton, but for the sake of the town halls television optics.
Approximately 15 minutes before the show, the producer ran the audience through a practice round of applause and noise-making. The results of the audience-prodding turn up in the shows video.
Just how difficult was it for CNN to find a naturally enthusiastic audience, anyway? The event was staged in Washington DC, which as Wemple notes isnt exactly a hotbed of conservative politics:

Partisan Media Shills ping. Thanks mandaladon.
But I am sometimes still surprised at the depth and brazenness of the corruption.
So, CNN has decided, given their abysmal ratings and influence, that they are better off working as Hilary's public relations firm, than as a third-rate cable news network.
Duly noted. Duly noted.
I guess Candy Crowley has shown them the future.
The MSM is the enemy of the American people.
very true
The MSM is the Country’s greatest threat.
PA-THE-TIC !!!
You bet. The democrat party’s media has decided that Hillary will be the next president. They will openly campaign for her and openly trash her competition whether it be repub or dimrat.
Joke might be on her though if baraq decides not to leave.
then what hildabeast? Really, think about what she even could do if her former boss decides that he isn’t done being emperor? Interesting situation.
bump
Quite a number of years ago, I recall being in the studio audience for a couple of network TV game show filmings. (As far as I can remember, on these occasions, I and others were invited in on a haphazard basis for free because the producers had some empty audience seats that they wanted to be filled and it was getting close to showtime.) An announcer prepped the audience on when to cheer and neon "Applause" signs were flashed as a prompt.
To CNN, the HRC town hall wasn't much more than a game show anyway. Furthermore, this kind of advance coaching of audiences has been used frequently at political campaign speeches, which this HRC event essentially was.
The only thing a bit surprising here was that the WaPo spilled the beans on a fellow leftist MSM outlet, CNN.
too bad some maverick cnn sound engineer didnt surreptitiously add a LAUGH TRACK!!
For posture and effect for sitting, considering that her middle is on considerable overload, now. She was looking like a slumped old lady, before she started hawking this book. Her poor sitting posture was especially noticeable, to me anyway.
It occurred to me that she must actually think it made her look....”wise”. It should have embarrassed her, but didn’t seem to.
Some handler had to tactfully tell her that a “sitting” president does not have to look like a slob, or 110 years old.
She is not going to run. She is plainly out of fizz, unfashionable and overweight, and insincere as always.
Reminds me of Porter Waggoner. He always did that. When a guest finished singing he would be off camera as he came back on stage and all the while signaling with his hands for the crowd to applaud. He was one hell of an entertainer.
Bad back because of too much lard on the front. That is my guess and while watching her and hearing some of the things she says, I am guessing that she takes pain meds and probably chases them with booze.
I completely agree. The voting majority are stupid and distracted, lacking the ability to think serious problems through.
Obama’s election (twice) and possibly her’s show the shift from serious thought to being “stylish”. Appearances are more important than competences.
Meme: Hillary is a worn-out, stumbling drunk.
CNN wants their lies about Hillary’s popularity to seem credible. I’m sure they’ll encourage fake applause for Sarah Palin too... /s
In short - CNN is the pits.
I’m kinda surprised the Washington Post didn’t cover for CNN...
