Rand Paul: Ask Dick Cheney about Iraq War
POLITICO ^ | 6/20/14 | KENDALL BREITMAN

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) wants to turn the tables on those who are questioning President Barack Obama’s handling of the draw down of troops in Iraq.

In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” that will air Sunday, when host David Gregory asked Paul if he found former Vice President Dick Cheney to be a credible critic of the president, Paul responded “I think the same questions could be asked of those who supported the Iraq War. You know, were they right in their predictions? Were there weapons of mass destruction there? Was the war won in 2005, when many of those people said it was won?”

Paul’s response comes after Cheney and his daughter Liz published an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal criticizing the president for the ongoing conflict in Iraq where militants have begun to take over some of the country’s largest cities.

“Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many,” the article said. “Too many times to count, Mr. Obama has told us he is ‘ending’ the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — as though wishing [makes] it so.”

Instead of placing blame on the president, Paul suggested that blame for the unrest in the Middle East can be placed elsewhere.

“I don’t blame President Obama,” Paul said. “Has he really got the solution? Maybe there is no solution. But I do blame those who are for the Iraq War for emboldening Iran. These are the same people now who are petrified of what Iran may become, and I understand some of their worry”

I’m talking about Rand’s recent behavior....and the general behavior of his father, not about every position the old man took.

At the end of the day, Libertarians are not us. We do share many things. and we absolutely should work together on those things. But they are the and we are us. Never will the twain meet. And we should each be honest about who we are.

Nuts? Maybe if Bush had carefully listened to Paul in ‘03, the entire disastrous experience in Iraq and the equally disastrous Obama administration would never had happened. The second was a consequence of the first.

That doesn’t change the fact that Obama has done a HORRIBLE JOB with what he inherited. I blame Obama for that. Our future is less secure because of the horrible job Obama has done there.

Yes. I was way off. He was my leading candidate at one time. He’s off the table for me.

The primaries haven't even started yet, it is not worth mentioning.

Rand Paul’s foreign policy would be indiscernible from Obama’s

In effect, yes.

But not in intent. Paul wouldn't be trying to lose.

Paul was wrong and is an idiot, it is why he could never win a state wide Texas election.

Every single geopolitical problem in the world today traces directly to liberals and their actions. They either caused it directly or assisted in it.

Every single problem this country faces economically, socially, educationally act. traces directly to liberals and their actions. They either caused it directly or assisted in it.

Every one. Anyone giving 5 min of thought can come up with dozens of examples.

Ross was more right than Rand.

I hope he doesn’t pull a Perot as a 3rd party candidate and put the demo in office. Truth is that he might pull more democrats if he did run as a 3rd party candidate. He seems to be running as a democrat.

>> I want to apologize to others on here for at one time believing Rand Paul would be a good presidential candidate. I was very wrong. <<

Good to hear. Now hopefully the rest of the Rand fans on here will admit they were wrong, especially the ones who vehemently denied that Rand was pro-amnesty and cursed us out for saying so.

Every Freeper should try it. Take an hour. Just go through FR’s pages and see for yourselves how as if by magic every issue has liberalism attached.

I am not remotely joking. It is the truth.

I know you’re not joking. I’ve thought the same thing before.

Rand has lately been the equal opportunity insulter to everyone, every side, every group and now poor old Cheney. So, net-net, he’s gaining zero forward ground. He gains one and insults two.

How does that work?

Rand Paul is confirming that his common sense ends at our borders.

Just like his father.

(1) It should be clear to everyone that he’s running.

(2) I have no problem eliminating him as an option.

Rand gave Obama as pass and attacked conservatives. He didn’t gain any ground with me. He lost ground “big-time” as Cheney would say.

It sucks because I think many may have, but we still collectively treat it like something other than what its actions prove it is.

No one wants to believe that when Adolf got his start, he was just a loudmouth idiot too. Same for Marx. but look where it led. And there are many more liberals with greater delusions of Godhood than the communists or Nazis ever had combined. The real ones not the forced kind.

It’s just crazy talk!...Until it isn’t. And people like Ayres openly say we evil non compliant types must be eliminated.
