Investigation of IRS Targeting
Commissioner John Koskinen testified at a House Ways and Means Committee hearing on the investigation of the IRS' criteria to process applications of tax-exempt organizations.
Louis tried as hard to recover her emails as OJ tried to find Nicole’s killers.
Recess to vote. I was in and out but seems like the Republicans, as usual, lacked focus. I would really like to know if ANYONE comes up with a game plan or is everybody just winging it?
Congress should subpoena Lois’s phone records the 36 hours leading up to this hard drive “crash”.
Funny, as I’m typing..one of my iPhone apps alerted me that they just backed up info/data. They do this on a regular basis. So an iPhone app can archive info but IRS emails get lost/destroyed??!!
No freakin way!
Camp, Issa etc..better start playing hardball, this is ridiculous.
The bastard from NY basically says “Does anybody really want to be called a conspiracy theorist like the birthers?”
“progressive groups or Tea Party extremists”. No bias there.
The IG of the IRS is all that matters.
No questions, just a bunch of BS. I guess he’s pretty interesting in processing factual information...
I would rather watch a beheading than listen to this crap, and beheading videos put me into shock.
Washington DC is as stinky as it comes. And if nobody in all of this has asked about backups then they’re ALL as dumb as bricks or else just putting on a show. The gal asking whether any taxpayer information was lost got the guy to allude to records being saved elsewhere, so why didn’t she press on that?
Seems like the Congressional “investigation” is a whitewash just like every other investigation.
We need to ask every stinking one of these critters if it is fine with them that only the inconvenient records that were being asked for - regarding illegal harassment of groups considered dangerous to the Obama regime itself, not the country as a whole - have gone missing, supposedly with no backup even though backups are required by law.
I am beyond disgusted. But until we figure out how to make these scum face consequences, they’ll continue to be scum and put on their phony theater so the country can pretend that this is anything but a third-world banana republic.
The problem is they all want face time so they can brag back home about how tough they were. But most of them neither undestand the fine points of the issues at hand nor have the quickness of mind to attack openings goven them. They mostly seem to be just working their way through a list of staff-written questions and not even listening to the responses. It’s very frustrating that they can’t mount a coherent line of attack with their questioning and won’t turn the job over to someone who might.
Even if, and that’s a big if, her hard drive crashed and that somehow lost all the e-mails she had saved were gone, why didn’t she ask the techs to restore her hard drive? There is no way they don’t back sensitive data on high executives hard drives. Wouldn’t she want the e-mails she had lost, wasn’t there important information on them. Or did she just somehow just start with a brand new computer with no info on it. It’s all bullcrap anyway, my thought is they would have held her information on a network drive that is backed up every night, not on some easy to blow up hard drive. And this guy said that 3 to 5% of their hard drives blow up? and they don’t back up said hard drives. Laughable.
goven -> given
One simple question for the commissioner, please explain your disaster recovery procedures and if they are in compliance with federal law. What do they do if the IRS building has to be evacuated, does everyone just go home? No bank would be allowed to do that.
You. Nailed. It. The Peter Principle is hell on self government, isn't it?
Subpoena the makers. Make them explain why their harddrives are so crappy. When their brand image is at risk they'll admit that the IRS is spreading shinola. Then subpoena the IRS IT guys and drill them about why they are so incompetent.
The House should go right from this hearing to pass a bill saying that any taxpayer whose information is lost in a hard drive crash will be required to pay no taxes.
But no taxpayer information was lost. Just the stuff relating to what Congress was asking them to provide...
Turnabout is fair play. Every business in the country needs to have their W-2 and other information “lost” in computer hard drive crashes that aren’t backed up.
There’s more than one way to skin a cat, and the IRS is way overdue for a skinning.
clear as a bell to those that have their eyes open and want the truth. I would love to hear from IT and CI division what they found wrong with her hard drive and what they did to try and retrieve it-catastrophic failure is rare.. I would also like to know who else knew about congressional concerns before it crashed

Get the records from the NSA and then throw these corrupt liars all in jail.
Until somebody sits in jail for obstructing justice, contempt of Congress, perjury, destroying records, etc, any House investigation is a sick joke.
goven - a coven of bureaucrats
Excellent question. And another like it: please describe your backup process and whether it is in compliance with federal law.
