A call for medical assistance on Tuesday evening, June 10, around 7, resulted in a New Canaan mother facing felony charges for risk of injury to a child, according to New Canaan Police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.
Police responded to a report of a young boy whod fallen while riding a scooter on Putnam Road near White Oak Shade Road. Officers found the boy, 7, had not been wearing a helmet and had some scrapes and bruises, as well as a pretty bad head injury, which was the most concerning, Ogrinc said. The boy was about half a mile from home and was with his brother, 9, who also was riding a scooter.
Investigating the matter further, police believed they had enough probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for the boys mother, who was at home when the accident occurred; the father was not home. The mother told police that one or both of her sons had told her they were going to play basketball at a neighbors house, Ogrinc said.
Police got a warrant on Friday, June 13, and arrested the woman. She was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a child and was held on a $5,000 bond, which she posted. She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 23.
If it was like this when I grew up, my mother and the parents of every kid I knew would have been jailed.
When I was little my brothers and their friends used to chase my friends and I with BB guns. I can’t count how many times I was shot, but it was fun.

See Justina Pelletier and Boston’s Children’s Hospital!!!
She was held hostage for 16 months by DCF and is now virtually incapacitated!!!
The world is upside down.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
One of my friends had an apple tree. We stuck firecrackers in them (the mushier the better) and threw them at each other like hand grenades.
That’s too bad. Sounds like you need to kidnap them from their parents for a few days and teach them what real kids do.
We have a neat neighborhood. Only 14 houses. People in two houses don’t participate in anything and their kids all stay inside. Most of the kids are homeschooled, monthly pot luck in the street complete with cooking contests, trophies to the winner, dads play baseball, basketball, kick the can and cowboys and indians with the kids. I’m the only grannie on the block but have a grandson who loves to play over here since they live on a busy street. It’s going to be a disaster though when all of them start driving. Beginning to see some girls come around from nearby neighborhoods and hang with the 12 year old boys. There is always at least one mother out though keeping a watchful eye.
LOL! It sounds like crazy stuff we used to do. But hey, we all stayed busy and skinny and grew up strong.
I raised my 5 kids in the 60s and 70s. The neighborhood was loaded with kids.
Everyone of us would be doing life terms if this kind of nonsense was around then.
.
My buddies grandparents were your average 60’s farmer with a few milk cows and other livestock.
when we were 12-13, his grandmother would pay us to execute sparrows and pigeons and the occasional sick kitteh from the herd that lived in the barn
Those girls have cooties. Keep them away from the boys!
note thgey won’t do this to minorities. just whites. esp if you might have money.
Ahh!!! I loved my Big Wheel!!!
A neighbors dog bit my grand daughter. Dcf and police showed up at different times. In fairness both were nice and thought it was crazy to be here.
Those girls have cooties.”
I sure haven’t heard that word for a long, long time. Youngest grandson just turned 13 and some of his comments and questions about girls are just tooooo funny - Why do they always have to be so dramatic about everything? Why do they always drag so much stuff everywhere they go? or Why do girls scream about everything?
Since he’s the last of the line I told him his first car has to have four doors so I can go on his dates with him.
That is so cool. I had forgotten all about Big Wheels. Good memories of things my kids had. Thanks for sharing.
Unfortunately, this sort of insanity is all too common these days among large numbers of professional busybodies.
My grandkids were kept hostage in Omaha for 2 years. Black judge and black case worker. White family. This so called judge even wrote and an published article a few years earlier ‘bout how there weren’t enough non-minorities in the state case load. He subsequently found a way to balance things. Our paid lawyer wouldn’t even touch that aspect for obvious fear of being black-balled in the court system.
