“However, if there is one man who can take the most credit for the 1965 act, it is John F. Kennedy. Kennedy seems to have inherited the resentment his father Joseph felt as an outsider in Boston’s WASP aristocracy. He voted against the McCarran-Walter Act of 1952, and supported various refugee acts throughout the 1950s.

In 1958 he wrote a book, A Nation of Immigrants, which attacked the quota system as illogical and without purpose, and the book served as Kennedy’s blueprint for immigration reform after he became president in 1960.
In the summer of 1963, Kennedy sent Congress a proposal calling for the elimination of the national origins quota system. He wanted immigrants admitted on the basis of family reunification and needed skills, without regard to national origin.

After his assassination in November, his brother Robert took up the cause of immigration reform, calling it JFK’s legacy. In the forward to a revised edition of A Nation of Immigrants, issued in 1964 to gain support for the new law, he wrote, “I know of no cause which President Kennedy championed more warmly than the improvement of our immigration policies.” Sold as a memorial to JFK, there was very little opposition to what became known as the Immigration Act of 1965.”

This is like telling someone that they have an “irrational fear” for not wanting to jump off of a cliff.

Like other Liberals the Cardinal is smug and likes to talk down to is adversaries.

92 million not working and this politician has no regard for Americans. By his logic we have no right as a nation to stop the entire world from coming to live within Americas borders.

It’s not 1920! or 1950!

Sorry padre, but an America full of freeloading, low information DemocRAT voters who can’t speak English would be the end of freedom and what was once the greatest country on the planet. IMHO.

It’s time to remove the tax-exempt status of any religious organization advocating amnesty including the Catholic Church.

I was raised Catholic but no longer practice the faith.

A big part of the reason is because of left-wing fools like Sean O’Malley and Timothy Dolan.

If the Catholic Church wants amnesty, let the Church pay to house, feed, cloth and attend to the medical needs of the illegals.

Well, Cardinal O, you have many lefty friends who think the church’s
position on abortion and birth control is irrational. What is your
point?

The Cardinal is playing politics with the US future. His only concern is the ability of the Catholic Church to influence US policy for the benefit of the Catholic Church.

He’s no better a person than any of the Democrats who are intent of wrecking the country.

“Fear and Hatred”? O’Malley, like so many US Bishops, thinks our Constitutional Republic is the socialistic Catholic Church. What is it about “illegal” that O’Malley refuses to understand? It is far, far less to do with fear and hatered any everything to do with the law.

Perhaps Cardinal O'Malley could understand this. Let's say the Protestant I am wanted to walk into a Catholic Church and demand several things be granted immediately because I walked through the door and was not caught. First demand would be communion, next would be immediate membership in the RCC and doing nothing but walking through the door and demanding it.

Next on my list of demands Protestant traditions be allowed. Say this is a Catholic Church? So what? Are you prejudice or something Cardinal? Next what if I demanded that I could take the churches money it uses for it's mission purposes, take the job of the janitor who is supporting 8 kids because I work cheaper, use the fired janitor or Cardinals identity in all my credit and public assistance applications etc. He would be outraged and say we have set rules set by the church which you must follow to be a member of the church. Exactly my point.

The United States of America has had long established laws on entry and citizenship being granted and certain requirements to be met. Just like your church Cardinal we have established an orderly process for citizenship or being allowed to stay and work in the U.S. It is fair and if government applied & enforced it correctly it would benefit all including ones wishing to immigrate and become American Citizens.

We require by law our kids learn a minimal history of our nation, it's government, and it's election process. This process takes our kids 12 years usually.

Right now because immigration laws are not being enforced we have a rise in diseases we had eliminated through our national vaccine, public health laws, and education as to how to prevent the spread of diseases. TB had almost been eliminate as well as many serious childhood diseases. TB certainly wasn't common anymore.

How can you deal with a culture that will not even take prescribed medications for diseases like TB and by taking them only partially and not following up closely with doctors as we must do as citizens creates TB Super Bugs. Cardinal would you allow such to take communion and in good conscience before GOD give communion then to the next person from that same vessel? Well would you? We also have a strain on our health care system and public assistance programs because immigration laws are not being enforced.

Immigration laws are for the health and welfare of all. The blatant refusal to ignore that and just waltz right on in spits in the face of those of us who face the risk they bring in.

In the service because I was deployed first to South America then to Europe I had to under go extensive vaccines. It was to protect me, my shipmates, and my family, upon my return home. Remember as well Immigrants used to have to go through Ellis Island or similar processing stations.

Your church sets forth rules and laws to protect your church. We set forth laws in this nation to protect our citizens. Let's see you surrender your churches laws first? No?

No church leaders in any church should be encouraging illegal entry into the United States. For those persecuted for religious or political beliefs we have a system for that as well. This has become a cartel funded invasion of the United States.

In a recent interview with the Daily Beast that focused on the “bigotry” and “xenophobia” of Americans who are opposed to amnesty for illegal immigrants, Boston archbishop Cardinal Sean O’Malley said, “Obviously, the fear is not rational, and I think we are dealing with it in an irrational way.”

What is irrational about using common sense, Cardinal Sean O'Malley? Are we to ignore the law and blend the difference between legal and illegal immigration? Common sense says to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into this country.

The first and only priority on the short term is to secure our borders. After our borders are secured, then and only then, should we deal with the tens of millions of illegal immigrants already here.

The second priority will be to identify and deport the criminals and criminal element among the illegals, like gangs, drug dealers, murderers, etc.

The third priority is to come up with a compassionate and fair way to deal with the hard working families who jumped the line to get into our country. How are we treating those who waited in line by rewarding those who jumped the line, Cardinal Sean O'Malley?

“The reason we have 11 million undocumented workers here is because we need them,” said O’Malley.

Peculiar how he uses a decade old number of illegal aliens...when it is known the true number is over 20 million.

Peculiar how he doesn’t conflate the issues of abortion, euthanasia, infanticide and an apathetic work ethic among the entitlement welfare loafers as the reason we may have the “need” for the illegal aliens. Of course, he is from communist Massachusetts, though, where the dubious untruths will never be questioned.

There was a time, in most of our lifetimes, when Christian clergy showed their devotion by doing missionary work in the 3rd World.

There they made the sacrifice and lived in 3rd world conditions among those they sought to save.

But not now! Christian clergy no longer put themselves through no such hardship and sacrifice - instead they import the 3rd World and 3rd World conditions here to the US - so they can remain in their ivory-towers and preach to the Americans they are forcing to live in US neighborhoods deteriorating to 3rd World conditions.

Instead, they advocate that the “xenophobic” every day Americans face the hardships and make the sacrifice.

So if your wife was not born in this country, and is against illegal immigration, is she “hateful and fearful against foriegners” too?

How do you explain it when legal immigrants take a stand against illegal immigration? How do you explain with “HATE” when a legal immigrant (who btw still has issues speaking English without an accent) gets angry because she can’t understand the jibberish illegals working at McDonalds speak?
