Iowa Republican Senate nominee Joni Ernst told a local news outlet she's "appalled" that her husband once called former U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano a "traitorous skank" on Facebook.
As reported by the Des Moines Register, Democrats took a screenshot of Gail Ernst's written comments, which had been up since April 2013, and seized on them. That prompted him to delete that and other inflammatory posts and apologize for them before Ernst denounced them.
"I'm appalled by my husband's remarks," Joni Ernst said, according to the Register

Looks like a toss-up. I’d love to see the internal polls!

I understood your post. I am surprised that others did not.
The criticism of the lady’s husband is just the kind of lily liveried (sic) crap that has us in the shape we are in now. i.e. John McCain, “We have nothing to fear from and Obama presidency.”
The Democrats fight. The Republicans surrender. They fear the media. Anyway we will never win as long as we use the Marcus of Quisenberry rules.
By the way, Janet Nepalitno is a traitorous skank.
So he confused Janet Napolitano with Hilary! Clinton - why exactly should his wife be held responsible?
So I guess the fact that Janet “He/She” Napolitano really is a traitorous skank, has no bearing on this incident. The truth and veracity of facts is no longer valid in this lying, deceitful world of liberals and democRATS.
In the private sector corporate world, they say the way an organization runs is a reflection of the man at the top. In the political world of Washington DC, the way the administration runs, reflects the lying behavior of the man at the top, Barack Obama, Mr. Prevarication himself.
Why? Was she worried that he would cost her the skank vote?
I am thinking more along the lines of,”Birds of a feather.....”
I’m sick of the hypocritical outrage on the left. Where was their outrage when Sara Palin was called much worse?
The problem with retail politics is at the end of every day your breath smells like dirty ass from all of the butt kissing you have to do.
The proper response to this is “These characterizations may have reflected my husband’s views a year and a half ago, but at no time did I make or endorse those statements. My husband is not me and his opinions are not mine. Nor do I intend to be held accountable for the words of another person, regardless of who he is.”
Anyway, we're moving in the high summer and all is right with the world.
First rule of practical politics: NEVER give your opponent an opening by using profane or rude language personally against a political opponent, especially a woman.
Women will react strongly against you and many men will think you are not acting gentlemanly. There is no way that these types of statements can be helpful.
We don’t need to go into whether her husband is jealous of his wife and has a secret urge to submarine her candidacy. He’s just an amateur to big-time politics.
This is the new Democratic strategy, Both MS, now this, they can’t win going against a good candidate so they find someone they’re connected to and make the campaign about that. Then instead of saying, they can’t fight me so they look into every word said by associates, they defend or condemn. Makes they look guilty.
Republicans better wake up, Dems keep moving the ball..
