WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama invited the leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives to the White House on Wednesday for a meeting on Iraq, according to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
McConnell told reporters at the Capitol that he, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker John Boehner and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi had been invited.
A White House official confirmed the meeting, describing it as part of Obama's "ongoing consultations" with congressional leaders on foreign policy issues, including Iraq.
The Republican lawmakers said they hoped Obama would spell out a plan for Iraq.
"We spent years, vast sums of money, and - most importantly - thousands of American lives to improve Iraqâs security and make America safer. Squandering that legacy would be a tragic mistake," said Michael Steel, a spokesman for Boehner.

Sorry
He has meetings then the puppet masters tell him what to do.
Hope and change useless RINOS. Have another hit of hopium.
Why are we paying these clowns? RESIGN opposition co-conspirators.
Somebody there arrest this traitorous fool.
Will Obama have them stand behind him while he gives a quickie speech ?
I note that there’s no-one invited to the meeting that has any clue what to do!
How about a coupla Generals, maybe some Admirals, maybe some intelligence folks, maybe some SS personnel!
Not just a meeting to decide who ordered two, over easy; scrambled, with bacon; just some coffee; the croissant looks nice!
Saving a country that you’ve been supporting for the past 12 years,is much more than a meeting photo-op, to sell it to the American public!
But then the average voter will axe where be Iraq; who be the Al-Qaida; where be my new snap card; Obama great!
Are any of the folks you’ve mentioned who Obama has retained and not sacked any better than anyone else attending? He’s weeded out a lot of folks.
He’s probably doing a Ted Baxter “Please Please Please, Billy, Billy, Billy” right now... hoping that Val comes up with something for him to say.
