What a crock! Didn’t we give them beads and firewater?
Taos should stand on their principles and give their entire city back to the natives.
Navajos really dislike Kit Carson.
I heard the Texas Rangers and Texas settlers had to kill a lot of indians that were raiding and killing settlers.
I guess we should rename Texas, La Raza.
They gonna rename the capital of Nevada too?
“...one American Indian activist felt uncomfortable in the park...”
Is this satire?
Do I hear any objections over naming America after Amerigo Vespucci?
I despise these people and their stupid idiotic PC crap!!
This is so frickin sad.
I live in the Carson Valley within 1/4 mile of the Carson River. To the west of me is the Carson Range that rises to over 10,000 feet. 15 miles to the north is Carson City which is the capital of the state where I live. I suspect that we will have visitors soon.

A nation of pathetic deracinated wimps.
Lets all kill ourselves & pretend we never existed.

“But Carson was ordered by the U.S. Army to relocate around 8,000 Navajo men, women and children 300 miles from Arizona to Fort Sumner, New Mexico, on what’s called the “Long Walk.” An estimated 200 Navajos died from cold and starvation after traveling in brutal and harsh winter conditions for almost two months.”
The article doesn’t mention that he was out of the army and back home at the time of the ‘Long Walk’.
KC married into and lived with the Indians. It was tough back in those days but he fought against the Indians and at the same time tried to treat them in a humane manner.
KC was a good man and shouldn’t be vilified in this manner.
Don’t rename the prk, shoot every indian tht enters it.
Gee, without Kit Carson, I wonder where non-Native American Fritz Hahn might be living right about now.
Frankfurt? Dusseldorf?
Maybe he could self repatriate and leave the keys to his lovely Taos home for some deserving Zuni.
I was recently listening to a 1930’s radio show on Kit Carson/ frontier heroes on Sirius XM Radio Classics and thought that show would NEVER be made today.
one American Indian activist felt uncomfortable in the parkBut not uncomfortable enough to move out of her air-conditioned home and sleep in a teepee.
“got to heal the wreckage of the past, and Kit Carson is part of that,”
Reparations are in the mail.
I’m going to go to the park and tell them that I’m uncomfortable with the new name. I’ll think of a victim-like reason.
