Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Tex.) has dropped out of the race for House majority leader, leaving current Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as the only candidate in the race. Sessions has released a statement announcing his exit, and his spokeswoman, Torrie Miller, confirmed his departure to the Post.
After thoughtful consideration and discussion with my colleagues, I have made the decision to not continue my run for House majority leader," Sessions said. "Today, it became obvious to me that the measures necessary to run a successful campaign would have created unnecessary and painful division within our party."
Sessions had also been considered a potential candidate for McCarthy's current job, GOP whip, but Miller said he won't pursue that post either.

On the local news in Dallas today, they reported that Hensarling dropped out because he may rather run for Boehner’s seat. Hmmmm..... haven’t heard that anywhere else.
The position will be filled for now.
However, for the reasons I mentioned, that does not mean it could
not change with coming retirements and new reps coming in for
the next session.
What else can explain why no true conservative did not step up now?
There is a reason no conservative stepped up NOW, with the key word
being now.
His 2013 ACU rating was 80% and his lifetime rating is 96%.

Exactly, this was strategy to let the GOPe get their wish list with no interference. I'm calling my Rep tomorrow just to voice what a sorry bunch of losers are sitting in that chamber. They should be ashamed of themselves.

His District is almost 40% Hispanic.
It’s also a farming District.
On those two issues he is All Left, All the Time.
They still don’t get the message. We’re tired of leadership that keeps surrendering and leaving us with the consequences.
