It's interesting that Ted Cruz was born a tri-Citizen. People need to realize that Mr. Cruz obtained his Cuban citizen from his father who had not yet naturalized at the time Ted was born. That is a fact. It is being reported that he officially renounced his Canadian Citizenship today but what about his Cuban Citizenship inherited from his father Rafael? Why is this being ignored by the media as well as his supporters? Don't get me wrong, I like Ted Cruz but this issue needs to be addressed.

George Romney was born to American parents and was an American citizen.Vague statement. Mexico is in America. So is Argentina.
In my post, I specifically said, "U.S. citizen." You changed it to, "American." America encompasses North America, South America, and the Caribbean.

Vague statement. Mexico is in America. So is Argentina. Anyone working as hard as you to be confused, deserves to remain so.

Ted Cruz should not of went thru the process of renouncing Canadian citizenship. He should not of recognized it at all period. He was born an American citizen, thus he had no need to renounce anything, since the US does not recognize what Canada or anybody else consider their citizens. I hope people know enough about our own history to realize that we fought a war over this subject back in 1812-14 called the War of 1812. You see American citizens were impressed (shanghaied) into the Royal Navy because at the time the UK, which included all of Ireland, considered anyone born there a subject for life. Thus British born Americans were dragged off of American ships and forced to serve in the British military. The US of course was outraged that its citizens were being kidnapped on the high seas, this situation led to our declaring war on the UK in June of 1812. Our position since the beginning was that we do not care what other countries consider citizens, we only care who we consider citizens, natural or not.

Good question. Let's ask someone that might be able to explain it.

His father fled Cuba for his life and never looked back. You think he magically made him a Cuban citizen?

How do you know that Ted isn’t a cyborg programmed by his Father to conquer the U.S. for the return of Napoleon?
To: ansel12
George Romney was born in Colonia Dublán, Galeana, Chihuahua, Mexico. It’s a fact, look it up.

I am not confused at all. I am precise.

Is Cuba claiming Cruz as their own?
But worry your pretty head not, Cruz is going to inflict way more damage to RATS as a Constitutional Restorer anyway.

LOL, so precise that you can’t even figure out the very simple fact that George Romney’s parents were Americans and chose US citizenship for all of their children.
That is confusion of the worst sort.

Since the founding of the country, the United States does not care one iota for what other countries consider their citizens. Citizenship is not some chromosome or germ that is passed from parent to child. Citizenship is what the law says it is. What Cuba or Canada consider a citizen is irrelevant, the laws and constitution of the United States could care less. If Gambia sent you a passport in the mail declaring you a Gambian citizen, do you really think that it would have any meaning, or would you go shrieking into night in a cold sweat, worried about your status. Any normal thinking American would just toss it in the garbage, and think nothing of it. Ted Cruz was considered a citizen at birth by the United States government, and that is all that matters, everything else is just mental self pleasure.

You’re obsequious. Everyone refers to U.S. citizens as Americans. Even the people of all those other American nations you mentioned.

How so? Gaskell Romney defected the U.S, for Mexico in 1885 and his son was born in Mexico in 1907.

I think the Moderator is having a little fun with you.
