Al-Qaida Establishes Islamic Caliphate across Syria, Norther Iraq
Daily Caller ^ | Joseph Miller (pen name fmr. sr. DoD)

Al-Qaida has established a new Islamic Caliphate.

The Obama administration’s failure to secure a status-of-forces agreement with the government of Iraq, or to take decisive action in Syria to end that civil war, has provided al-Qaida an opportunity to fulfill its dream of creating an new Islamic Caliphate governed under Sharia law — and it is a direct threat to U.S. national security.

On Tuesday, June 10, 2014, just days shy of the two and a half year anniversary of the departure of the last U.S. combat forces from Iraq, news broke that hundreds of al-Qaida-linked terrorists belonging to Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) had taken Iraq’s second-largest city, Mosul, and possibly all of the surrounding Nineveh Province. Iraq security forces abandoned their posts, leaving advanced military equipment and weaponry to al-Qaida. As they advanced, 500,000 civilians out of an estimated two million that live in Mosul fled, and al-Qaida now controls the city — a gateway to Iraq’s oil rich north.

Less than 24 hours later, reports indicate that al-Qaida has now taken the city of Tikrit, the birthplace of Saddam Hussein. Al-Qaida militants are said to have driven into the city Wednesday in an organized convoy and taken over the government’s provincial headquarters building. The infamous black flag of al-Qaida now flies atop. The rapid destabilization of Northern Iraq is very alarming and dangerous. A very bloody civil war appears to be inevitable, similar to the one being fought in neighboring Syria.

Al-Qaida affiliated terrorists now control an area in Eastern Syria all the way through parts of Western and now Northern Iraq. They have subjected the locals in the areas they control to Sharia law and have engaged in acts of violent barbarism. They have beheaded locals for failing to adhere to their strict interpretation of Sunni Islam and they have set up training camps to train additional terrorists to conduct operations and external attacks. This is exactly what al-Qaida has always wanted, and the Obama administration is allowing them to have it.

Tikrit is now the third major Iraqi city to fall into the hands of al-Qaida terrorists, as the city of Fallujah was taken over in January. The United States Marine Corps fought two major battles for control of the city of Fallujah, and many Americans lost their lives or were injured fighting there. At the moment, all of that effort and sacrifice appears to have been made in vain.

Why? Because the Obama administration failed to sign a status-of-forces agreement with the government of Iraq that would have allowed for a stay-behind counterterrorism force to maintain security gains and kill al-Qaida terrorists while Iraq got on her feet.

I don’t agree at all with “taking direct action to end the civil war in Syria”, if it means arming the supposed “moderate” rebels there.

We should have had a status of forces agreement with Iraq though and help the government there more.

Maybe Obama didn’t want one because he wanted out of Iraq fast, or maybe because he didn’t want to help them since they have a Shia dominated govt? Or some secret deal with Saudis?

I didn't think this would end up being Obama's worst catastrophe. I thought all the other ones would top this. Meanwhile, closer to home, we've this problem.

All of Obama’s evil is coming home to roost.

God only knows how bad things will be by 2016.

Isaiah 17:1 - “Woe to Damascus; it has been taken away from being a city, it has become a ruinous heap.”

When this prophetic message was given by Isaiah, Damascus was the whole of Syria. Hmmmmm ..?? That revelation does kind of change the perspective on what the scripture means.

Even a limited nuke could wipe out the whole of Syria.

Nuts. If Obama had acted in Syria as he was pushed to do, he would have sided with al Qaeda.

There’s a lot of confusion which side is which, and you can usually count on the press to get it wrong.

Vietnam all over again. The abandoned military equipment now in the hands of the enemy, the well equipped military units that simply refuse to fight, the millions of refugees flooding the roads, the rapid collapse of government and society, the sense of inevitable doom and coming of evil... It is happening all over again.

Any Iraqi who put any trust in America needs to flee for his life. Thanks Obama, thanks Bush, what a catastrophe.

McCain and Graham slam Obama for Iraq violence

Posted by
CNN’s Conor Finnegan

Washington (CNN) - As the Iraqi army and al Qaeda-linked militants battle for control of the city of Falluja, Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham are slamming the Obama administration for its Iraq policy.

More than two years after the administration failed to reach a status of forces agreement with Iraq and withdrew all American combat troops from the country, the two senior Republican senators are blaming President Barack Obama for the violence erupting there this week.

“While many Iraqis are responsible for this strategic disaster, the administration cannot escape its share of the blame. When President Obama withdrew all U.S. forces from Iraq in 2011, over the objections of our military leaders and commanders on the ground, many of us predicted that the vacuum would be filled by America’s enemies and would emerge as a threat to U.S. national security interests. Sadly, that reality is now clearer than ever,” said McCain, of Arizona, and Graham, of South Carolina, in a statement.
