Last Thursday, another loon (like Elliot Rodger) opened fire with a shotgun on students at Seattle Pacific University, killing one and wounding three others.
It could have been a veritable bloodbath as the culprit, Aaron Ybarra, intended, according to law enforcement, to unleash hell on the campus; but a quick thinking, non-wussified young man rose to the occasion and peppered sprayed this SOB when he was reloading and brought him down to Chinatown.
Ive got two words for that brave move by that fine young squire: Ya and Hoo.
Check it out Daily Mail:
A 26-year-old gunman has opened fire at a small, Christian university in Seattle killing one student and wounding three more with shotgun blasts.
And police say he could have killed others if it wasnt for the actions of one heroic student who pepper sprayed the gunman and tackled him to the ground.
Students at Seattle Pacific University say Jon Meis saved countless lives when he sprang into action as the shooter stopped to reload his weapon Thursday afternoon.
Meis, a 26-year-old engineering student, is engaged to be married and has everything to live for friends said. But he risked his life and ended the murderous rampage.
Im proud of the selfless actions that my roommate, Jon Meis, showed today taking down the shooter. He is a hero, tweeted Matt Garcia.
Classmate Briana Clarke told the Seattle Times that Meis, who was on duty as a hall monitor, sprayed the attacker in the face, grabbed him around the neck and then wrestled him to the ground.
Yep, instead of rolling up in the fetal position and wetting his big victim diaper, Jon Meis did what normal young men used to do, namely, kick the bad guys butt by any means possible. Someone buy that man a beer.
Now, for all the criticism of alpha males and how men nowadays need to be more like Michael Jackson and less like Leonidas, I bet the kids and faculty at SPU, and their respective relatives, are sure as shizzle glad this Meis hombre tapped his primal, protective impulses when the crap was hitting the fan and saved the day.
Gentlemen, should you ever find yourself in a sticky situation in close proximity to an active shooter, as Mr. Meis did, put this in the back of your noggin; it might save a few lives:
1. Obviously, get out of the shooters line of sight. I know duh. Stay safe, assess the situation and try to maneuver from behind.
2. Be willing to sacrifice self to save others. Thats what Meis did and it worked. Jon had no guarantees he was going to come out of that altercation alive, but he ponied up anyway and it worked, saving God-knows how many lives.
In that kind of crap storm, calling the cops only allows el Douche the time to reload and keep mowing down the innocent. Aggressive action is the cure for the active shooter. Take the bastard out. Bull rush him. Yes, you might die but you also might save a lot of innocent lives. Thats the gamble of the hero.
3. Have a weapon at your disposal. Granted, a gun in the hand of a good guy would have really helped, but Meir used what he had and the pepper spray worked effectively on the perpetrator. If for some reason you dont have a deterrent on you, get creative and use what you have at hand like a laptop, or a heavy book bag or a frickin chair. Or if youre eating Chinese food ram some chopsticks into the dipsticks eardrum and pierce his empty head.
4. If you have the good fortune that your first strike worked and youve incapacitated the moron, dont stop and admire your lucky strike. Do what King David did to Goliath and cut his head off. Or, if thats too much, choke him out.
5. Dont be greedy with your heroic act -- invite others to join the melee as Jon did and dog pile the dude. Have fun. The more the merrier, eh?
Im convinced many of these massacres could have ended with a lot less casualties if we all did a little mental prep and a little physical training, because I am convinced that these losers arent the Rambos they think themselves to be.
Great job, Jon Meis. If someone could get me his address Id love to send him a box of my world-class Safari Cigars.
Jon Meis, under zero-tolerance rules, will now be expelled from school for possession of pepper spray.

(hope not)
YES!
My daughter shared an Internet thread showing that the Internet has responded and every item on his marriage registry Target and Crate and barrel for him and his fiance has been purchased. Seems he is getting married in two weeks. Reports indicate a crowd sourcing effort is active to fund their honeymoon is well underway.
Posting from mobile. Excuse typos.
He will be arrested for not “sheltering in place”.
Colleges now have “hall monitors”???
Based on this event, I guess they are needed.
(1) The assailant was Hispanic
(2) The victims were White religious Christians
SPU is a Christian university. This fine young man is an example of the kind of student they produce.
Now there's a topic that is worth discussing in detail. There are lots of things that one would not normally think of as being defensive measures or highly effective weapons......
They ran with it for a while claiming that all you need for defense is a can of pepper spray against a bad guy with a gun.
Then came the Georgia shootout in which a deputy shot a bad guy with a gun.
Yep.
I would have punched that guy’s time card so many times he’d require facial reconstructive surgery.
Hope he gets life at a minimum or has one last electrifying moment.
3. Have a weapon at your disposal
When I met my wife I had already served in the military and had been a LEO and Corrections Officer. In a discussion of what to do if someone got in the house when I was not there I showed her that every room possessed a variety of effective weapons with which to dispatch some scum bag.
Don’t get me wrong we have weapons but you should always know your surroundings and what might be used if needed.
LOL!
Congratulations, though I’m not sure what this has to with the subject.
The media is now going to argue that you don’t need a gun to defend yourself or stop a mass murderer — all you need is a can of pepper spray.
I sat next to a guy on the subway once who told me how he could kill somebody with a ball point pen if attacked. People here sometimes confuse the gun with the willingness and courage to act quickly and counterattack.
There is no weapon in the world that will help you unless you are swift enough and fearless enough to simply attack your attacker. Attitude is all, and we’ve raised a very disempowered generation...except for people like this guy.
It’s funny but true - that’s one of the things I get a kick out of watching Jason Statham or the Bourne movies - creativity in offensive attacks. Yes, I know they’re just movies but the take-away point I thought was that the quick decisive decision is the major plus in the matter.
I agree. Even something like screaming loudly can help, if for example you’re talking about a little old lady who probably couldn’t resist very effectively. But if she got mad right off, I bet she’d at least disrupt things.
The cops always tell people to go along with it, etc. That might have made sense back in the days when murder was a capital crime and the average petty criminal really wasn’t going to off you. And when the mentally ill were in mental hospitals and out of circulation.
But now citizens have to be much more proactive in their defense, and they don’t have to be armed to do it. Or if they are armed, they have to know that it’s not just symbolic and they may have to use that weapon.
