(CNN) -- As the controversy surrounding Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl release gains growing attention, Bergdahl's family is now the target of recent threats, according to an FBI spokesman.
Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl family have received threats following his release after five years in captivity at the hands of the Taliban, an FBI spokesman told CNN on Saturday.
"We are working jointly with our state and local partners and taking each threat seriously," FBI Special Agent William Facer said in an e-mail.
Facer declined to detail the nature and severity of the threats.
Additionally, the military spokesperson for the Bergdahl family emphasized this is a "law enforcement issue."
All the while, a fallen soldier's mother and a former member of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's unit pressed assertions Saturday that troops were killed while searching for him in Afghanistan. Officials say that there is no such evidence.

You came to the White House and Invoked the name of Allah. Contrary to the liberal media, most Americans realize that Islam is a cancer. Your invoking the name of Allah was OUT OF PLACE since this entire episode came about as a result of the War on Terror.
I don’t approve of the threats, but you shouldn’t be surprised. It was a STUPID move on your part.

While I agree that there should be no threats, the father and mother brought this on themselves. They made their bed. Now they have to lay in it.
You are right. Threats are wrong. That said, I don’t like the feds saying the Gold Star parents are lying.
I wish I could work up some emotion about this issue tonight but I’m drunk-posting while slow roasting Roma tomatoes at almost 10,000’ in the southern Rockies of Colorado.

I thought about posting a death threat prediction - after the first few revisions of the official truth - but didn’t want to give them the idea too soon. I should have known it was already on their checklist.
Step 1: Politicize the bad decision with a White House Rose Garden ceremony, pretending it was a good decision. Then complain that nasty, mean-spirited republicans are politicizing the decision by quoting facts.
Step 2: Apologize for failing to notify Congress.
Step 3: Explain that they really did notify Congress, when they mentioned the negotiations a few years ago.
Step 4: Explain that they couldn’t notify Congress because the terrorists threatened to kill the deserter if the talks leaked.
Step 5: Explain that they couldn’t notify Congress because even though the terrorist leadership was okay with the trade, a guard with an AK-47 might kill the deserter if the talks leaked.
Step 6: Explain that they couldn’t notify Congress because the deserter’s health was deteriorating and the trade couldn’t wait.
Step 7: Explain that this was a good trade because the mass murderers we are releasing will be supervised by an Islamic government for a year.
Step 8: Explain that this was a good trade because the mass murderers we are releasing are old and no longer a real threat regardless of the official government assessments of the danger they pose, and regardless of the terrorists’ announced intention to resume attacks on our country.
Step 9: Explain that this was a good trade and bad conservatives are swift-boating a decent man.
Step 10: Explain that this was a good trade and Bergdahl was an American hero who served honorably, while his platoon was long on psychopaths and short on leadership.
Step 11: Explain that this was a good trade and Bergdahl’s character and loyalty don’t matter because we never leave a man behind.
I know I’ve skipped quite a few steps in this evolving justification for treason, but it’s obviously time for the classic: Claim that there are death threats, and they are all because this evil and destructive political decision is being politicized.
