FWIW, I have a relative who obtained a civil union with his partner the first week it was allowed in VT. What the town hall granted was a civil union, recognizing their legal, inheritance and care rights. Then later in the day they had a wedding ceremony at a Unitarian Church. What's wrong with that being the only involvement of the gov for everyone?

Obama changed the policy at the federal level for the military, federal employment and immigration, not in churches, and here you are wanting the mosques to add polygamy.
