Set your sights on this number: 113,000.
That's how many jobs the U.S. economy needs to hit its break-even point, to finally recover all the jobs lost in the financial crisis.
Get ready, because we're about to get there this Friday.
That's when the U.S. Department of Labor will release its May jobs report, and the outlook is rosy. Economists surveyed by CNNMoney expect the U.S. economy added 200,000 jobs in May.

Except that the number of people has grown. So that’s it, let’s not count that at all and change the way we count this crap too! I wonder when was the point in time when CNN lost all subtlety and decided that having a reputation for integrity just isn’t worth it compared to being a 100% owned subsidiary of the Democrat party.
Thanx F15Eagle ... I LOVE your biblical references.
That is the immutable fate of this press and the politicians they uphold, whether they like it or not.
- Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
- Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
- Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
- Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
- Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Happy days are here again. Woo-hoo.
I cane you didn't understand the last chart, here's another that shows we are nearing all-time high for number of people employed:
Participation rate peaked in 2000 and has been declining ever since.
This has to be garbage. I remember hearing that a huge number of jobs would have to be gained every single month, for a long, long time.
So what? There's more people around. Nevertheless, if the percentage of the population that is employed is going down that means that fewer workers are toting the load for more non-workers. That is the key issue. I don't see a 'recovery' until that reverses.
That’s right. Because after all I went from earning 6 figures as a top of their field professional to being laid off to moving to another state to now working at a retail store ‘full time’ (less than 40 hours a week but enough to get benefits).
Wow what a recovery...oh yeah I now earn less than 40k a year GROSS
The business and political leaders of this nation have been throwing away productive jobs while instituting social pathologies for about 40 years.
LOL. CNN, you are serving your moron master like a good toady.
What are those ratings looking like, by the way?
At a negative 3.2% growth rate first quarter????LMAO
As Charlie once told Lucy “ Tell your statistics to shut up”
Common core math is now mainstream in fed.gov. statistics.
