The Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) ruled today that sex reassignment surgery and other transition-related medical care should no longer be automatically excluded from coverage.
As HHS appropriately points out, excluding coverage for transition-related surgery is unreasonable as viewed by the standards of the medical profession today incomplete, unfair, and obsolete, said SPARTA Policy Director, former Army Captain Allyson Robinson. The application of scientifically proven, internationally recognized standards of care to recipients of Medicare is a step in the right direction.
She continued, As transgender service members continue to put themselves in harms way for our country, we look forward to the day when those same standards are applied to them. Theyve certainly earned it.
SPARTA, an LGBT military organization, includes several hundred transgender members currently serving in uniform.
SPARTA is an association of LGBT people who currently serve or have served in the military, along with our families and our veteran and uniformed allies. We are a membership organization, built by, for and with members from all parts of the LGBT military community. SPARTAs mission is to advocate for and support our actively serving LGBT military members and veterans, and their families.
The name originated from the acronym Servicemembers, Partners, and Allies for Respect and Tolerance for All.
If men can now get breast implants, are underendowed women ALSO able to get them?
If not, why not?
Both pathetic and amusing at once.
At light speed!
We are in the repeat of the fall of Rome
my friend’s Grand Daughter has a Cleft lip and no way can they get it fixed
In other words we need to be like Europe.
They always have to say how backward the United States is compared to Europe when they want to expand social programs in to some new and stupid direction.
So now tax payer dollars are going to be spent so people who dont want to or cant afford to pay for it themselves can have doctors mutilate their bodies.
They are saying that these operations are medically necessary?!! WTH?
These surgeries have a very large failure and complication rate, and require frequent revisions, all to support some transvestite’s delusions. I consider them medically unethical because they amount to mutilating an otherwise healthy patient.
Well, not mentally healthy, but you know what I mean.
“If men can now get breast implants, are underendowed women ALSO able to get them?”
What a wonderful question, and a good angle of attack. Since “lifestyle” operations, like reducing foot pain, are often not covered, why is not a man’s penis extension (or enhancement) covered?
When Republicans are again in charge, it will be simple to just reclassify it as “elective surgery”. When this is done there is no obligation for the taxpayer to pay for it.
SPARTA?
This. Is. Madness.
Really? With all those black robed terrorists appointed during 8 years of Osama Obama,8 years of BillyBob and 4 years of that peanut farmer?
The article makes it sound like there are millions and millions of service members who are sex reassignment candidates.
I would like to see the actual numbers to see how big the tail is that is wagging this dog...
Does anyone know, for certainty, that we already have
“transgenders” in the military? Which barracks do they live in?
Except, of course, Christians who run small businesses . . . we take them to court and beat them up!
Forcing me to affirmatively participate in another person’s delusion will not cure their mental illness.
Your kidding. A man can get his penis hacked off, but a baby can’t get a cleft lip repaired?
So much for our once powerful military. 6 short Obama years and this is what we’re reduced to now. A all gay all the time military more interested in gay weddings and mutilating genitals.
