CNNs international correspondent Jim Clancy called the West Point response to President Obamas meandering foreign policy address pretty icy Wednesday.
Clancy said it was not really a great speech to give at the U.S. Military Academy, and the address has drawn bipartisan criticism.
It was a philosophical speech, he said. It was not a Commander-in-Chief speaking to his troops. And you heard the reception. I mean, it was pretty icy.
Obama said he believed strongly in American exceptionalism, but he continually used straw men in his address by implying that critics of his vision of foreign policy always advocated first and foremost for military action.
A panel on MSNBCs Morning Joe criticized the president for his announcement to fully withdraw American troops from Afghanistan by 2016, and even liberal Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson ripped Obama for giving a convoluted speech Wednesday.
There are individual problems that require individual solutions, Robinson said. And so that then sort of militates against some sort of sweeping Obama Doctrine that you can sum up in a bumper sticker. And I dont think we got one today, frankly. Hes against isolationism, but he is interventionist, but not unilateralist. Just because we have the biggest hammer doesnt mean every problem is a nail, just because we have the best military doesnt mean every problem requires intervention.
Imagine, if you can, the defensive hissy fit that Obama would throw if during a sworn hearing of the Benghazi House Committee, Chairman Trey Gowdy asked Obama: Where were you, and what were you doing during the night of September 11, 2012?
I shut off my TV “before” he was announced to speak and I’ve yet to trun it on again. I am pleased to read the words “icy reception.” I pray it’s true.
God protect our brave military.
The LAST question Trey Gowdy should ask every witness at the Benghazi hearings is “Oh by the way, Do you know where the President was at that time?”
Either they know and perjure themselves or no one knows- but either way...
The West Point graduates are warriors, Obama is a pussy.
Cadets to Obama: “You suck, pal. We need a real Commander-in-Chief, and you are but the poorest substitute. But here’s some tepid applause offered as a perfunctory matter of form.”
I know for a fact the Military DOES NOT like this POS.
Well when you looked at the ‘tight camera shots” you would swear that West Point was a minority neighborhood school. As Redd Foxx once remarked on an episode of “Sanford & Son,” there were enough blacks there to make a Tarzan movie.”
I hope it froze his butt off.
I doubt that any vets in attendance were clapping.
Correction: The "old guard military" DOES NOT like this POS. The new recruits (who are mostly brain dead) and the openly homosexual (who are now persecuting true bible believing Christians and anyone else who opposes their agenda) all love this POS.
Well let’s face it, zero ain’t no George Washington, more like Benedict Arnold.
We’re not North Korea yet and the media seems sad.
“Either they know and perjure themselves or no one knows- but either way...”
Scooter Libby went to jail for saying “I don’t know” to the FBI.
Good.
Duh, these guys and gals are there for graduation. They expect a “way to go, thank you for your service, the enemies of the United States are peeing their pants because of you” speech. Not a “I’m the President, I’m not a wimp, my non-existent foreign policy is part of a bigger scheme” speech.
Well that's not quite true, but I hear that obama does aspire to work his way up to being a pussy.
My friend’s son graduated from West Point today. Can’t wait to hear what she has to say about it.
Go to any military base and you have to look long and hard to find an Obama bumper sticker.
