I won’t necessarily say good riddance, but it is evident that this woman had zero talent for writing poetry.

Maybe so, but I just read some of it and found a few I liked. What bothers me is the way the left worships people like Maya Angelou, but I won’t speak ill of the dead. May the Lord have mercy on her.

while i was not a fan of her works, i have to say that she is the writer of my all-time favorite cookbook... the recipes are spectacular, and the stories that go along with them are transparently Maya Angelou... she comes across as sharp, wicked and tangy... i especially liked the story that went with her banana pudding recipe... i received the book as a Christmas gift several years ago... it is called, "Alleluia! The Welcome Table"

I won't say I'm an authority on poetry: some say my taste is regrettable. However I think her verse is --- for this century and part of the last --- good as any, better'n some.

Taste and see:

You are absolutely right! Any one of us here could write better! Here is an example from her “poem” titled “Momma Welfare Roll”:

Too fat to whore,
Too mad to work,
Searches her dreams for the
Lucky sign and walks bare-handed
Into a den of bureaucrats for
Her portion.
‘They don’t give me welfare.
I take it.’

SHEESH! Can’t believe anyone would call this dreck a poem!
