Reality check... Conservatives in Texas are getting more than 30% of the vote. Cornball is the only rino to sneak by, and it was because he ran a brilliant ad campaign that made him sound to the right of Reagan. I don’t like the guy’s politics, but I can recognize a very well ran campaign. We need to get that campaign team to work for some real conservatives.

Patrick did ride coattails, and the disgust with Dewhurst was deep.

There have been a lot of folks quietly working for a long time to get rid of Dewhurst. I started actively working to get him out of politics 4 years ago.

Harbor whatever nonsense theory you wish. Conservatives cannot wield political power unless and until they hold it. If you don’t have power, you are just pissing into the wind. It’s really that simple. No one ever got elected with 30% of the vote.

Don't you comprehend that on this website, a good many have finally come to detest what this godless leftist political thinking of yours has produced within the GOP? Enough!

Obama was elected by those Republicans and conservatives who didn’t vote for McCain or for Romney because they didn’t like all their politics.

Now we are fighting to preserve freedom of speech, the right to bear arms and the right to any degree of privacy and the right to manage our own healthcare for our families.

Thanks for your non-vote. You are part of the problem.

Incumbents win over 90% of all elections. They are very hard to beat, especially when they have proven that they can be bought and are willing to stay bought. Keep chipping away at the edges and at the soft spots. Tonight was a pretty good night, IMO.

18 Republicans, 12 Democrats. Lt. Gov picks the Chairmen.

And Dewhurst selected Dems for some of the chairmanships.

Not sure what you mean by “control”. The Lt Govenor is the president of the Senate. There are 19 Republicans to 12 Democrats.

That’s not nearly enough. You have to figure out how to turn that into election wins. Conservatives have been terrible on that score. Democrats have walked all over so called great Conservatives who couldn’t win an election to the sewer commission.

So you wanted me to vote for a pro-abortion, gun banning, pro-socialized medicine, big government liberal republican? Is that what you are saying?

Say it out loud. Be proud. You wanted me to vote for a pro-abortion gun grabber.

Those kind of traditions need to go. To the victor the spoils. The liberals must be crushed and thrown to the dustbin of history. Hopefully Patrick will break from Douchehurst and tradition and do just that.

“Part of the problem”... Really? Because according to my memory, all of Texas electoral votes went against Obama.

Where are all you Romney guys coming from tonight! And who says we didn't vote for McCain in order to vote for Palin? You?

If you cannot elect a majority
Republican Senate you have nothing. It is failure.

By electing a majority in the Senate we have a good chance of getting rid of Obamacare for starters. Not much else is of more importance as it is destroying this country

Really, you are under the impression that Texans and Californians who didn’t vote for Romney cost you the electoral votes from those states?

Could you provide a link that shows he is leading in KY.
I have been looking for recent polls and can’t seem to find any
since his primary win over Bevin.

The last poll I saw before his primary victory was a tie with Grimes.
I do know he only won his last election by 6%, which is not much.
And of course, he trashed and bragged about crushing the Tea Party
in his lead up to his primary win.

It will be interesting to see how many KY conservatives he trashed
willing to crawl over glass to send him back to congress.

Please provide that poll link if you can find it.

Grass root changes have to work their way up. National campaigns are tough and even tougher on amateurs. The path to the future is to get a wave of true conservatives to work their way up the food chain from local office to state and then national. That is why there is so much celebration over getting Tea party candidates into state office. This is the launch pad for national level candidates.

For the most part, Texas has a good crop of conservatives headed into the general election. Less rinos at the state level means less future rinos at the national level (from Texas).

It needs to be the political kiss of death to run as a liberal republican. They need to be utterly defeated in the general election.

That needs to happen until the tone-deaf GOP figures out that they need to run and support conservatives or they will be completely out of power.

I'm doing my part to make that a reality.

Last time we elected a Republican senate we got liberal governance, with larger, more expensive government.

It will take some time, but if we keep destroying liberal republican candidates, the GOP will get conservative or go away.

I don't care which. We've got one strong liberal party, we don't need a weak liberal party to go with it.
