We fled when DrO retired from his medical practice for financial reasons and his own sanity and mine....lol. We'd had enough of CA's demonic-rats and high costs and he longed for his Southern roots which was A-OKay with me. Hardest part was leaving grandchildren (and children), but air travel is easy and not all that expensive. My cherished Mom and Dad, along with my grandparents, aunts and uncles are all buried there and my cherish husband's ashes along with mine are going home there, too...eventually.

Yup. Love Coronado ... used to hang out there in high school :-) ... but the last time I was there, the traffic was absolutely horrendous in town -- ditto with just about everywhere else in SD. You're probably much happier in the South. I'd escape there too, if I could.
