Except the part about bringing the plague to Europe, the fears that lead to the Inquistition, ushering in the dark ages, and killing off uncountable soldiers (including children), that is.
Well there were a few bumps along the way. :>}
Fighting Islam is never pretty.
As for Inquisition, dunno if you’re grinding an old Jewish grudge or not, but if I had to choose whether to be in Inquisition Spain or to be in Stalinist Russia, it would be a no brainer choice. They were pretty merciful to those who didn’t go out on a public limb to badmouth the Catholic church.
The Crusaders didn't "usher in the dark ages". That was the sack of Rome in the 5th century. The crusaders were 7 centuries too late.
bringing the plague to Europe
They also had nothing to do with the plague, since the last crusade ended with the fall of Acre in 1291, and the plague didn't arrive (from Asia) in the Crimea until 1346. From there it spread rapidly over Europe, reaching Norway in 1349.
The Dark Ages are highly underrated.
