On May 11 Breitbart News reported that Jack in the Box told law-abiding customers it would "prefer" they not bring guns into its restaurants any more.
Since then, there have been three incidents at Jack in the Box restaurants involving armed men who prey on unarmed ones.
Most recent was a robbery that took place on May 20 at a Jack in the Box in Houston, Texas.
According to click2Houston.com, four armed men not only robbed the store but also the patrons inside. One of the four men has been arrested.
KHOU.com reported a May 18 robbery at another Houston Jack in the Box that took place in the parking lot, where an armed man shot and robbed another man outside the restaurant.
On May 13, just days after Jack in the Box asked law-abiding citizens to leave their guns home, GunsSaveLives.net carried a WKRN-TV report about a man who was shot in the parking lot of a Nashville Jack in the Box after refusing to buy drugs from a man who cornered him outside.
Does Jack in the Box still "prefer" that law-abiding citizens remain unarmed?

Is anyone managing a “No Guns” ping list?
Becoming too common to comment about these days. They will either allow guns or at the least quit placing the “come rob me” signs in their windows. Idiots require a traumatic event to learn at times...
The district managers of that area’s Jack in the Box are likely to be asking themselves;”How in the hell did we get wrapped up into this gun debate? We sell snack food, not handguns! Why do we even feel it necessary to issue a policy statement? We should let each manager set his own rules” Even Chik-fil-a, which I support, has decided to stop making press statements about social issues. That throws the energy of the company off course. Results in a lot of wasted time and confrontation with an angry public.
I’ll leave my dollars at home when I DON’T go to Jack in the Crack. I hope their business fails. Gun owners won’t go. And people afraid of thugs with guns won’t go. That’s not a very good business model.

Almost a better question, “Does Jack-in-the-Box still prefer drug dealers to sell drugs on their property?”
A question you could theoretically ask of the corporation AND the law enforcement agency commissioned to enforce the laws in that area...
I wish those signs meant JITB assumed the responsibility for their patrons safety...

Simple solution to the problem of carrying a gun into a place that does NOT allow guns, go somewhere else and spend your money. My gun is part of me and if you don’t allow my gun, you don’t allow me. End of story!
Even then, there are lawyers out there that could successfully argue that “assumed responsibility” for your safety could be defended against, if that statement (declaration, even in writing) is posted where ALL patrons can see and understand...Especially if the sign fails to do its intended job...
Whatever that could be...
Just remember, corporate policy is not state law in most cases, unless the law specifically allows businesses to post a “no guns” sign in their establishments...
Texas has a provision in the law that if a business or entity wishes to post a sign, it has to meet a “state” required size, contrast, visibility (posting location) requirement for it to be legally binding...And even in some cases even that has been argued against in court...
I do not know of any other states that have similar legal requirements...I stand to be corrected though...
Most people I know tend to just let their dollars be spent elsewhere than prop up a business that doesn’t understand the basic purpose of your right to keep and bear arms...
I, and many other could go on and on, but the result would be the same...IF JITB, and other businesses refuse to respect your rights, then I’d just step away and go somewhere else...
The blood will be on their hands, not yours...

Most people are not going get that deeply involved in such a lawsuit or public complaint. Jack in the Box can always say their primary purpose is to provide fast food, not safe refuge from criminals outside of their actual restaurant. The employees would have a better chance of being taken seriously
using that argument, because they are confined to the premises for a set amount of hours. Heaven help the restaurants if their workers start heavy unionizing, because then, the employers would be subject to all manner of demands, on top of OSHA safety laws.
