Voting out a liberal leader might make sense, but we already had our chance to vote in a conservative and lost. In other words, our current choice is between a liberal Republican leader and a statist Democrat. I agree that’s a real dilemma for someone who wants to push the country to the right, but I also don’t think Mitch is as liberal as you imply.

In what way will a Democrat in that seat give us a better chance than we already had (in the primary) of turning the country conservative? It’s a six year job. That’s a very long time for the Democrat to do damage, and we know that’s guaranteed. A Republican moderate (or liberal) will at least work with us some of the time.

BTW, we still have an opportunity to take down Thad Cochran, and that in itself would be a good reminder to the moderate wing to behave.

The liberal republican leader has enabled Reid's agenda. Mitch has already said he'll change the way the senate is run, if the pubs take the senate.

He'll allow the dems to bring up whatever amendments they want.

That's the damage he can do.

And your feelings don't matter. What matters is that you won't convince a LOT of conservatives to vote for Mitch after he burned so many bridges.

He won by 6% last general election, with a lousy Dem candidate. Grimes is a much better candidate. Couple that with conservatives that will remember that Mitch said he would destroy them when he found them, and I think Grimes will win in November anyway.

John Cornyn won his primary, but he'll have to win or lose the general election without my vote. He's another liberal republican that supports Reid's agenda. And he's #2 in the senate republicans.

It isn't a matter of how liberal he is, it is a matter of how he defied us and attempted to destroy us as a political force.

It is axiomatic that the Tea Party isn't sufficient to win an election on it's own, but it is easily sufficient to DECIDE who wins. The only way a small group can play Kingmaker is by throwing a close election to their chosen candidate.

In order for people to believe you have this power, you have to DEMONSTRATE this power from time to time. The NRA has done this often enough to make everyone in politics realize that you do not **** with the NRA. They will chop off your political head if you do.

For this reason, they are one of the most successful political organizations ever.

You don’t reward bad behavior. Each election that people vote for the lesser evil allows the lesser evil to become more evil. It also allows the greater evil to become more evil. It’s a cycle of slowly moving further and further left. Doing it slowly allows it to become easier and easier to tolerate for many people. Baby steps.

Sure, it would hurt like hell to let the greater evil prevail, but it very well could remove the lesser evil from the next round to be replaced by good. Then we can start moving back to the right.

That’s the simplest way I could explain my perspective. Hopefully it made some sort of sense.

McConnell needs to go.

He's already proven to be a disaster as Minority leader and letting this degenerate Washingtonian lead the Senate is a non-starter.

GOP still wins the Senate without this demented old coot.

New leadership is a must.

Don't vote for the communist Grimes, just stay home or vote down ticket.
