I thought the black box batteries only lasted a week or so anyway. Too late for that now isn’t it?

This thing stinks to high heaven of cover-up for some as yet unknown political reason. If I had to bet I’d bet the present administration is up to its hips in it.

That is just about the way I see it too.
I have no idea where it is or what happened but am suspicious that those things are known by some who don’t want the rest of us to know.

This all refers back to the loss we have allowed in underwater acoustics capabilities. Before 1991 we could detect, localize, and track a Soviet nuke and make repeated passive attacks without their ever knowing we were there. Since then we have let our ASW capabilities shrivel to the point where the new P-8* is reportedly incapable of doing electronic ASW at all. We went from 451 mission-ready P-3s in the 80s to just 80 or so airworthy now. You may not see the connection between ASW and finding a submerged sound source, but they are the same.
* If we build the P-8 in any quantity

Someday someone will find bits of it plastered against the side of a remote Himalayan mountain in Bhutan.

I still think it landed somewhere. 777’s just don’t disappear.

...and half of those 451 mission-ready P-3s flew over my house every day in the 80s heading from Moffett NAS to the Pacific on ASW missions. Windows rattled, the chandelier swung...what a racket. All gone now. The degradation of our capabilities is frightening.

I have read that a fisherman saw a plane on fire in sky and I would like to know where that was.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Plane’s in Pakistan. Cover-up, just like Bengazi.
To: Georgia Girl 2
They know what happened they are just not sharing it with the rest of usYou'd think, except how long can a secret be kept if more than two people are in on it?
I'd like to believe that in an era when the NSA is probably reading this post that a plane with hundreds of people on it and not much later hundreds of school girls can't just disappear into thin air. Everything is just too weird.

You have a great point, as wreckage should have floated up on beaches in the Indian ocean weeks ago if it broke up in the ocean and wasn’t ‘landed’ intact in the sea.
One other thought: It ‘is’ possible it crashed into the jungle somewhere, intentionally or otherwise, and might be waiting to be found. If there were no witnesses and no fire (fuel exhausted or dumped), a crash site would be as hard, if not harder, to find as wreckage in the vast Indian Ocean...
The whole thing stinks. And getting the Aussies involved for validity of the search (initially) seems to have only deepened the distrust at this point (IMHO).

Yep. It’s in one of the ‘stans.

China is a fascist state with total control of the media and its people. Malaysia is dysfunctional. There’s something embarrassing or sinister to the China government about this “missing” plane. Beijing knows what happened.
Just my $0.02.
