The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) announced on Wednesday that it had purchased the rights to a documentary series that will follow the life of Michael Sam. Terms were undisclosed, but sources said that negotiations to make the deal took two months.
Sam became the first openly gay man to be taken in the NFL draft when he was picked Saturday in the seventh round by the St. Louis Rams.
Cameras for the network were with Sam when he received the call that he was drafted and will follow him through training camp as he tries to make the team.
The network said the working title for the series is "The Untitled Michael Sam Project."

I KNEW something was staged when I first saw the draft pick/kiss video. All these professional TV people were clapping and taking video. Sam himself looked over at a camera after one kiss as if to say “did you get that”?
The whole time a “documentary” (reality show) was being filmed. We all know those shows are total set ups. Come on shoving cake into each other’s faces and kissing? No sincere gay man just humbly trying to make it in the NFL would purposely come on that strong right away and allow a TV show to distract him.
Sam knows he isn’t going to make the team unless that is setup too. He certainly isn’t putting maximum effort into football.
I have a dream the Oprah pisses away her billions on crap like this and spends her twilight years in a homeless camp.
The other is, according to a number of young women of his acquaintance, he is not homosexual at all, but a good actor, who used the "gay" thing to cynically enhance his celebrity status and hence his marketability.
If the latter proves out, Oprah could be headed for the pratfall of the ages.
Will the movie be called “the son of Sam”? It fits!
Isn’t Oprah a homosexual male?
Well at least he was drafted by the Rams and not the Packers.
Precious.
And even insufferable doesn’t quite describe the revulsion.
They cant cut him for the reasons you stated. The Rams will be stuck with him unless he gets hurt walking the sidelines.
Yea, that's really gonna endear him to the coach and rest of the team.......
That distraction's going to get old real fast......
