A former employee of Magic Johnson says the basketball legend fired her for being seven minutes late to work a delay she blames on his request for a turkey sandwich.
Lanita Thomas filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court this week saying her dismissal over tardiness was actually a pretext for ageism. She is 45 years old.

Red vines is a candy sometimes called red liquorice.
Lots of people eat it. It’s quite cheap.
I’m not a fan of them either, which is why it is interesting when rich people in protected classes get sued. One protected class against another.
We’ll send you a bag...LOL!
Lol
Over Bill Russell or J?
Or Jerry West
Etc
I don’t watch the feral thugs anymore....I hope the whole industry goes the way of boxing
Less watched
Would you believe in 70 years I never ate red licorice or recognized that brand either. Black yes, red no. Amazing.
Like I said, I learned something new today. OTOH, maybe I did eat some and don’t remember :)
All this his jet his employee platitudes in no wat detracts that he can’t be criticized for it or sued if unlawful termination
Freepers...normally not business owners....think those of us in business act like fiefdoms and can address any issue through laizzes faire (sic) freedom
It doesn’t work that way
Thanks for trying to understand part of the point I was trying to make.
So many here have failed to look beyond the surface of the facts and dig even an inch or two deeper....
In my opinion there is only black licorice. That is why they are called Red Vines, not black vines.
I do not care for Magic Johnson and if the story is true, he is a bit of a heel, but it is his jet and he can hire or fire who he wants I would think.
So then...that begs the questions “how is that different than Sterlings situation? It is HIS team right? He should be able to hire and fire who he wants.”
To a certain extent. The Sterling issue had to do with some trumped up legal minutiae that left consequences in the hands of the Commissioner. One could say that the other owners, could demand that Sterling sell his share but he does not have to . The Magic Johnson situation was just the actions of a bore, who owns the jet and hires the waitresses.
OK, thanks for the offer but black licorice is the only kind for me. Hope that isn’t racist?
Black licorice reminds me of those Smith Bros cough drops mama used to give us when we were little kids. They were cheaper than the red Ludens cherry drops and one usually did the job. Both kinds left a strong after taste that lasted for quite a while, but the cherry wasn’t that bad. Maybe I’ll try red licorice if I get the chance.
I think the last time I tried anything with black licorice was Black Jack chewing gum. Back in the 60’s, a test pilot I worked with during the F111 flight test program said it came highly recommended by Chuck Yeager. It wasn’t bad at all. It did grow some hair on my b*lls even if I did have both feet firmly planted in a telemetry booth as these guys flew. Unfortunately, Black Jack gum became too hard to find in the stores and eventually I had to give it up.
Sorry to take the conversation off topic.
