While Tuesday's Washington Post covered ESPN's elaborate planning to broadcast "a kiss that rocked the sports world" -- after openly gay Michael Sam was drafted, and they don't mean the later cake-shoving kiss that seemed a little scarier given Sam's size -- the debate over the kiss submerged the flagrant liberal editorializing that ESPN aired a few minutes before the Rams selected Sam with the 249th pick.
ESPN reporter Chris Connelly (formerly with MTV) uncorked pre-emptive anger, that if Sam went undrafted, the verdict of "history" (read: liberals) "will be derisive laughter, aimed at a league thus deemed by many to be unworthy of its place in contemporary society." Connelly attacked "tired old" prejudice and praised Sam for "weeding out the hopelessly hidebound" teams of the NFL.
I wouldn’t reference Matt Millen in any NFL conversation as a GM as he was clueless and set that franchise back several years unlike Jeff Fisher and GM Les Snead who have nailed the last three drafts and have cleaned up on the RG3 trade.
He won’t be “made” a star, he has to earn it.
Again, that’s not how pro sports works.
There is no AA in the NFL or any pro sport.
Ask the homo NBA player sitting on the bench and not getting any playing time.
Just how is he going to be made a “star”?
Are the Rams going to bench Robert Quinn, one of the best, if not the best DE in the league and just give the starting job to Sam and at the same time, the NFL will order other teams to “let him” beat them?
That’s just crazy talk. You didn’t say it, but it sounds like what you are insinuating.
Nobody gets a free pass in the NFL
Anyone that thinks so doesn’t know a thing about sports.
“He wasnt the BPA.”
Again, you know better than highly paid pro scouts?
You are stating your unprofessional opinion and imagination as fact.
driftless, I’m new to the game too. If a guy can get into a team, watching the game is unbelievably exciting. My 7 year old boy and I watched every Jets game here in rural MO via pay streaming TV.
We had a ball. Many nail biting, unable to sit down games yelling at the TV. The best part was we had a brutal cold long winter and it was like “Winnipeg” here. Lots of below zero nights meant our little 1 acre pond froze for a long time and me and the kids played a lot of goof off hockey.
Take Care.
My guess is they’ll stick him on special teams to appease people.
That's not true. Defensive End James Gayle out of VPI had more impressive combine scores than Michael Sam, yet he did not get drafted:
Michael Sam | James Gayle | |
---|---|---|
40-yd Dash | 4.91 s | 4.70 s |
Bench Press | 17 reps | 26 reps |
Vertical Jump | 25.5 in | 37.0 in |
Broad Jump | 114 in | 122 in |
3-cone Drill | 7.80 s | 7.19 s |
20-yd Shuttle | 4.70 s | 4.27 s |
Overall Score | 5.22 | 5.31 |
Gayle was signed by the Giants following the draft. I believe he has a chance at making that team.
I’m not new to the game...I’ve been watching the odd game for almost fifty years. But it wasn’t until the area where I lived acquired an expanded cable program in the late ‘80s which allowed me to watch more hockey, specifically the Stanley Cup. It was the last year Gretzky played in Edmonton that I first watched many Cup games.
Can’t believe the NFL had him on during the draft talking about talent assessment. I was furious.
They can never cut him
Nope,,,never.
I used to watch sportcenter a lot. But then it got all goofy with the Stuart Scott speak, and they covered all kinds of crap I didnt care about.
I started watching Mike & Mike in the mornings. Safe, simple, sports based, with no gotcha interviews.
Now, Mike & Mike is adhering to the agenda. If its gay, or racial in nature, they are going to talk about it until you want to throw up.
I watch Golf Central. I know, its owned by NBC, but when I tune in, its about golf 90% of the time.
To hell with ESPN.
I still like ‘Boomer’ during the NFL season. He’s hilarious.
