Imagine if only the big cities voted in the US elections.
Considering neither of those cities (or the surrounding Oblasts) are majority Russian this is remarkable. Sort of like GA going 98% Democrat based on the vote of Atlanta.
There is only one part of the previous Ukraine that was majority Russian ethnicity and that was Crimea. The remaining south and west are majority Ukrainian. I find it nonsensical that a majority of ethnic Ukrainians would vote to become part of Russia.
You are entitled to your own opinion but not your own data.
“I find it nonsensical that a majority of ethnic Ukrainians would vote to become part of Russia.”
Given the coup, the mass killings, the unrest, and the much brighter economic outlook in Russia, I don’t.
The question of whether the election was illegit/legit is immaterial to the long-term.
As western Journos noted, there were as many people voting that wanted to remain part of Ukraine, but couldn’t stomach the coup regime in Kiev, as there were that wanted to join Russia.
That tens of thousands, and maybe more, turned out, despite the very real possibility of being killed for it, says a lot.
Putin said today he will “honor the wishes of the voters.”
Kiev had better be listening, but it seems they aren’t, as there are many reports of a renewed attack around Slovyansk, including bombardment by Heavy Artillery.
Washington DC had better be listening, but it seems they arent, as there are many reports of a renewed attack around Imperial CA, including bombardment by Heavy Artillery even though 99% of the population voted to join with Mexico.
What part of a sovereign country defending its territory from foreign invasion do you not understand?
“What part of a sovereign country defending its territory from foreign invasion do you not understand?”
What part of the coup gov in Kiev is killing UKRAINIAN CITIZENS is it YOU refuse to understand??
TCRLaf, I now this is going to come as a shock to you, but governments fail all the time when they try to do things the populace and its leadership’s own governing coalition don’t want them to do.
The leader wanted to go one way, and it seems the rest of the government didn’t want to go that way.
Obama didn’t cause this?
Nobody did but a President who walked so far out on a limb he couldn’t get back to the trunk, and regroup.
Well it seems worthy of questioning to me. I’ve never heard of a region in the U.S. going 98% based on any great argument.
The Maidan was made up of MANY elements of Ukrainian Society, including many Russians.
Why did Obama, and our MONEY, choose to back the most violent, radical, and Anti-Russian elements involved??
I think we need to rewrite the history of WWII, because I’m sure some outside funds could probably be found in Austria when Hitler invaded.
Hey, Poland too.
France? Undoubtedly!
Wow, Hitler was right. Just damn.... /s
That isn’t an answer, just an obfuscation. Try again.
I’m not going to try again. The Ukrainian government had a right to do as it pleased. It did.
If you can’t grasp that, don’t waste my time.
The government is viewed by a large portion of Ukrainian Citizens as ILLEGITIMATE.
If you cant grasp that, dont waste my time
You sure talk a lot. What do you know about the majority of the Ukrainians?
Did you run a poll asking the Ukrainian people what they thought?
The ones I talk to aren’t impressed by what is going on, and they prefer the Ukrainian government than Putin’s nonsense.
At least one family that I know of refers to him as Putler. They do it because they think he’s acting like Hitler.
I guess you have missed events of the last several weeks?
Don’t play stupid.
Oh yes, the 98% voting in favor of, and in Crimea that representing 15% of the populace at large.
Wow, very impressive. I guess you’re right. /s
Only those who show up to vote get counted.
In last week’s Indiana primary it was 7%
Hmm, were there Russian troops, tanks, and thugs on the streets of Indiana? I didn’t know that.
You’re obfuscating again...
