SEVASTOPOL, Crimea (AP) President Vladimir Putin has hailed Crimea's incorporation into Russia. Putin made a speech Friday in the city of Sevastopol on his first trip to the Black Sea peninsula since Russia annexed it from Ukraine in March. Putin watched a parade of Russian navy ships and a flyby of Russian aircraft marking the Victory Day commemorating the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II. Ukraine has condemned Putin's visit as trampling on international law.

His efforts in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine are just like Hitlers moves in Austria. And yet it is the expansionist EU backed by NATO muscle that most represents Nazi Germany circa 1942.
Go figure...

The E.U. does not annex nations. I don’t like the E.U. either, but you folks have gone stark raving mad.
What has the E.U. done that reminds you of Hitler?
What nation did they invade? What Jews have they tossed in boxcars? What massive armies have the placed on the borders of nations to intimidate them?
What the sam hell are you talking about?

Look at a map of the EU and/or NATO expansion over the past 25 years and overlay a map of Nazi Germany circa 1942. Very similar expansion.
In that context, the notion that Russia is acting aggressively by holding the line with the Ukraine is absurd.
I wouldn’t place any laurels on modern Europe’s treatment of its Jewish citizens either.

What happens before the U. S. expands?
There is a legitimate election process, that is scheduled months in advance. There are many observers. The election results come in around 55 to 45%, or something sounding reasoned and normal.
You don’t see any difference between this and Hitler crossing borders with tanks and infantry?
You guys make a farce out of WWII by equating Hitler’s actions and the E.U.’s.

I’m not sure which aspect of this discussion you wish this to reflect on. Perhaps you could touch on it.

Like a lot of western liberals you impose impossible standards on ideas and personalities you oppose. International observers were invited to witness the peaceful referendums in Eastern Ukraine but none went, and now the lack of observers is used as "evidence" of an illegitimate process.
Likewise a comment posted on the similarity of territorial expansion of EU/NATO over the past two decades and that of Nazi Germany is seized upon as a comment on the similarity of actions used to achieve those ends.

Woudl that be like leaders in Russia serving their temrs and moving on, allowing other politicians to hold office like they do in other Demcoracies?

I believe some comments on one of these threads addressed that there were observers. Likewise a comment posted on the similarity of territorial expansion of EU/NATO over the past two decades and that of Nazi Germany is seized upon as a comment on the similarity of actions used to achieve those ends.
Well yes..., what other comparison should there be? If people vote to become part of the E.U., isn't that difference than being over run with troops and tanks?
Why should I be critical if the free people of those nations voted to join the E.U.?
If the E.U. called elections two weeks before they were held, and claimed 98% of the voters had voted to join the E.U., I would be her saying no they didn't.

The German Chancellor was just elected to her third consecutive term and has been party leader even longer, but I don't see you holding Germany to the same standard you're attempting to impose on Russia.
That's called western liberal bias.
Maybe what's really bothering you is the sight of all those unarmed 'terrorists' lining up to cast their vote against the EU puppet regime in Kiev.

Maybe what bothers me is that Russia has term limits.
As I recall, Germany wasn’t even blamed by you guys for the problems in the Ukraine.
Putin manipulated the system to remain in power. That doesn’t sound like a Democracy in action, something folks were heralding.
