The thing to note from the post is the epithetic use of “neocons” in tandem with anyone supporting Israel. In some “libertarian” circles, I believe this is the seminar accusation. (Chapter 4, page 6, Para. 3—”Call them neocons.”)

But where exactly does the “neo” date back to? I’ve been a Christian Zionist since 6/7/67 or maybe even earlier. What color spit do the neo-libertarians have for me?

I still feel sympatico with much libertarianism especially as concerns the over-reach of government. But if I have to hate, or even generally distrust Israel to keep my adjunct membership I’m outta there.

And just for the record, some of us really WISH we were young enough to be “neo” no matter what how itchy being mistaken for Karl Rove would make us feel.

I caught the “neocon” epithet as well. It may have been the last straw for poor old Flaming Retread.

When I was a child, a lovely, elderly Jewish couple, neighbors of ours, were very kind to me. It is
hard to be ill disposed toward anyone who was that sweet and nurturing to an 8-year old who made
too much noise upstairs. 3622222 (My cat, Lucas Prince of Darkness, just walked on the keyboard.)

I have met some obnoxious Jewish people, but with age, I have come to realize that their first thoughts
about people of other faiths is, “How is this person going to try to put one over on me.” And I have
undergone the “purity test” from more than one baiter who tried to get me to admit prejudice.

Some I won over, and others, not so much, but I hold no prejudice against any of them after what they
have been through for centuries as a people.

“Neocon” means “New conservative.” The term originated to describe a group of liberal intellectuals who decided to support the war against Communist North Vietnam. They disagreed with the idea, “better red than dead.”

The word gradually took on other meanings. Many of the original Neocons happened to be Jewish. And the liberal propagandists played the usual word games with the term “Neocon,” until they turned it into a term of disgrace.

Originally it applied to those who opposed people like Jane Fonda. But from Vietnam it was transferred to Israel, as well as Iraq. Or any other war that the libs disapprove of.
