The Do-Not Call registry I think is a total government shell game. They get people with legitimate phone numbers to sign up, and then they have a database of phone numbers that has a warm body attached to it, which in turn they sell to third parties.
It actually worked pretty well for a while, but several years ago it started to get worse and worse, to the point where now I’m not sure it has any value at all.
I noticed that before Obama, the DO Not Call List seemed to work for me and mine. Now, it is a free for all. Calls constantly.
Just the fact that it is a database full of citizens who want to be left alone is enough to avoid it like the plague.
People would think twice (well, maybe not) about signing up for a registry that promises that government will leave them alone. A valuable database indeed. They might as well paint a target on their backs.
