Donald Sterling has been shamed, fined $2.5 million and banned for life by the NBA for his incendiary remarks about race. But none of that changes the fact that Sterling still owns the Los Angeles Clippers, which gives him options."This may set up nicely for him," said David Carter, executive director of USC's Sports Business Institute. "He could ride off into the sunset a la Frank McCourt."

I was enlightened by that fact...
5. Why is she being sued by Sterlings wife?
I think the lead in: “I wonder about this girlfriend.” may have some bearing on your point 5!
Booker T. Washington (1856-1915.) ~
Gee, are Jackson and Sharpton that old?
I have no sympathy for Sterling, he gives no quarter and he asks none. Good that is the way it should be when the big boys play.
However, is public opinion on a private conversation sufficient grounds to take a billion dollar business away from it owner?
In a free country with free speech and free enterprise public opinion can take away your private property because someone is offended?
Once we open this door, ownership of private property could become a popularity game show on television: "who deserves to be an owner".
Silver made a mistake. The league will have to pay a heavy price to buy Sterling out.
confession....I have a perverse admiration for women who grift their way to financial independence, as long as they keep it legal and out in the open. I suspect she crossed the line beyond that.
She seems to be a woman who will find financial profit in the situation.
Is she basically a whore? who is paying her bills? What does she do for a living?...Yes. Baksetballsers. Balls Baksetballsers. Anymore questions?
5. Agrees to sell for 5 Billion USD and a lifting of NBA ban.
With the power they have, why doesn't the NBA Player's Association just demand that the team has to be sold to Magic Johnson? They'd probably get support.
LOL.
I had a feeling about what her position was in all of this.
So far, the media have not paid attention to her, dug into her situation, how she is profiting from all of this.
In this era of Political Correctness we live in, yes, racism is the ultimate crime.
I can’t remember such an orgy of political correctness as this one, as everyone in the world heaps abuse upon Sterling as if he is the biggest evil since Hitler.
If only Sterling had said ugly things about the right group .Tea Party, Christians, or conservatives, things would have gone differently.
“”Is racism the ultimate crime?””
Everyone cheering this decision and decrying the remarks made by Sterling should be afraid of the precedent being set here. This never would have reached the pitch it has if obozo hadn’t been stirring the racial angles up since he took office. He has nearly achieved his goal. Next will be to entertain legislation to make exactly what you are saying, law! People aren’t smart enough to figure this out.
From what I’ve heard, Larry Elder is the only person who has the guts to stand up to this nonsense.
The “gal friend” says there was never a sexual relationship with Sterling. WOW! She got all the cars and the condo/house for what?
That post with the quote from Booker T. Washington is excellent, and it has the added bonus of being true.
It’s a shame that there is no current spokesman for blacks with the erudition and insights of Mr. Washington.
OTOH the NBA could use this incident to let all of the players opt out of their contracts and declare free agency, driving the value of his team down to whatever the franchise rights are worth.
The first thing he needs to do is file a felony complaint against the bimbo for taping him without his permission. She won’t be so desirable after five years in jail.
Regardless of WHAT he said, what she DID is a crime.
This just shows what mob justice brings...arbitrary actions. The racial & homo thought police are here. Screw’em. I hope Sterling takes them to the cleaners.
In those days, Boyle Heights was a Jewish community whose main drag was Brooklyn Avenue. Today, Brooklyn Avenue is called Avenida César Chávez, a name which suggests how the neighborhood has changed.
Local lib commenters in my area are all claiming he's a registered Republican. I don't know, I'm just asking.
