An Oklahoma inmate whose execution was halted Tuesday because the delivery of a new drug combination was botched died of a heart attack, the head of the state Department of Corrections said.
Director Robert Patton said inmate Clayton Lockett died Tuesday after all three drugs were administered.
Patton halted Lockett's execution about 20 minutes after the first drug was administered. He said there had been vein failure.
The execution began at 6:23 p.m. when officials began administering the first drug, and a doctor declared Lockett to be unconscious at 6:33 p.m.
About three minutes later, though, Lockett began breathing heavily, writhing on the gurney, clenching his teeth and straining to lift his head off the pillow. After about three minutes, a doctor lifted the sheet that was covering Lockett to examine the injection site.
"There was some concern at that time that the drugs were not having that (desired) effect, and the doctor observed the line at that time and determined the line had blown," Patton said at a news conference afterward, referring to Lockett's vein rupturing.

I like the idea of hanging. I believe that it is traditional that a person who survives a botched hanging is let free.
Wouldn’t need that much ... a dime size spot would do the trick, and folks wouldn’t have to be so far away that watching the vermin die had to be on TV.
The same thing, three-fold worse, should be done to the guilty as they did to the innocent. It's biblical and would help family members of the deceased live, vindicated.
If you can't do the time, don't do the crime...
Potassium cyanide crystals dropped into sulfuric acid in a gas chamber was efficient and relatively quick. San Quentin had a gas chamber with two seats which would have been perfect here.

The general consensus was that the executed was indeed going thorough terrible agony as a result.
Color me unable to give even a small percentage of an iota of a F.
“About three minutes later, though, Lockett began breathing heavily, writhing on the gurney, clenching his teeth and straining to lift his head off the pillow. After about three minutes, a doctor lifted the sheet that was covering Lockett to examine the injection site.” Didn’t like those demons taking him to his ‘reward’ eh?
What's with this "three drug" BS.
One massive doseage drip of Pavulon (succhinylcolate?) would suit the job. After twenty minutes of not breathing you can presume the vermin is dead and gone.
Heck, give these people a reasonable amount of heroin or cocaine, but as they are tripping, drip bleach into their veins until dead.
This seems to be what liberals would be happy with. The death is okay, as long as the person was made happy through it. At least, that’s how they treat fetuses being aborted, right?
Oh, yeah, they simply grind those fetuses right up without any “happy drugs.” Then do the same with guilty criminals as with innocent fetuses.
If pain is the criteria for determining if an execution is constitutional or not we should be using either Carbon Monoxide or Nitrous Oxide or a combination of both.
Nitrous Oxide has long been used as a pain killer but if does kill if overdosed.
Carbon Monoxide is poisonous but dose render the victim unconscious quickly and painlessly.
Either of these gases are cheap and readily available on the industrial gas market. The equipment to administer the gases would be much less expensive than the current equipment used to administer the three drug regimen used to put down these killers.
Why is it that government seems to have to over think everything and go to ridiculous lengths to satisfy these looney Leftist cry babies.
True, but if you do it out in the desert, no clean up, and you could provide some protein to the desert tortoise population (before they are rounded up and shot by the BLM.)
Do that, but drop him with a timed fuse on a group of Hamas militants.
The most common botched hanging resulted in a decapitation.
Ken Hamblin’s toilet flushing audio would be most appropriate.
LOL!

Do you have even the slightest idea of what the EPA would think of this???????
Bonus!
I’ve got an idea...How about having an abortion doctor plunge scissors into the skull of the inmate? If it’s humane enough for the late term abortion of a child, it sure as hell should be humane enough for a murderer. Of course, this correlation would never register with the cognitive dissonance of a liberal.
So what????
