An Oklahoma inmate whose execution was halted Tuesday because the delivery of a new drug combination was botched died of a heart attack, the head of the state Department of Corrections said.
Director Robert Patton said inmate Clayton Lockett died Tuesday after all three drugs were administered.
Patton halted Lockett's execution about 20 minutes after the first drug was administered. He said there had been vein failure.
The execution began at 6:23 p.m. when officials began administering the first drug, and a doctor declared Lockett to be unconscious at 6:33 p.m.
About three minutes later, though, Lockett began breathing heavily, writhing on the gurney, clenching his teeth and straining to lift his head off the pillow. After about three minutes, a doctor lifted the sheet that was covering Lockett to examine the injection site.
"There was some concern at that time that the drugs were not having that (desired) effect, and the doctor observed the line at that time and determined the line had blown," Patton said at a news conference afterward, referring to Lockett's vein rupturing.

Agreed, what is the problem? He dead.
The use of drugs for executions is due to the actions of liberals.
Like all liberal “fixes” the cure is worse than the original problem.
It’s so easy to put someone to sleep. It’s done ten thousand times a day. Just put them in an induced coma then stop the heart. They’ll never feel a thing.
That sums it up. It hurts? GOOD!
That’s exactly my thought.
I want an innocent pet to quietly and painlessly go to sleep. I want a convicted criminal to suffer.
Sounds like he still got better than what he deserved.. of course, he’s getting that now!

I know this is not the Christian view but I am glad he suffered - a few minutes of pain is nothing compared to what his victims and their survivors must endure. There is no humane way to execute people - it’s a barbaric process and to try to humanize it with narcotics and such is just foolish. Personally I think we should go back to firing squad which seems to work well in China.
Too bad they don’t televise these things on pay-per-view or by selling network rights - that would be a good way to raise money for the victims fund.
They should use Carfentanil(elephant tranquiler) , 3 mg of Carfentanil is enough to knock out a angry full grown elephant, its so potent it can cause death in humans just by skin contact
