My tendency is to agree with your reasoning....however, one thing caught my attention....the wife attends the Clipper's playoff game, is interviewed...and she falls all over herself saying what a schtunk her hubby is.

Now, she's falling all over herself defending him.

California is community property, which is probably why she had an epiphany after a chat with her attorney. Many folks think she's an "ex-wife" but she isn't.

There's a reason for her about-face.....she's definitely placed herself in on the act now. "Why" she did is not clear at the moment.

Hubby may not have total control over selling the team....or NOT selling the team. Wifey may have ideas of her own.

They are "estranged"..but NOT legally separated..thus they are still married....and as you point out, Cal is a community prop state.

However, that makes no diff to the NBA...you can't just leave you ownership interest to an heir..wife or child UNLESS the other NBA owners approve..and they can refuse to approve without stating the grounds...thus..he's stuck...

By golly Leni, I believer you're on to something!

My, what a devious mind you have lol

But you're right. That team is currently community property absent a legal divorce/separation with property settlement. She can either force him to buy her out, or she gets to reduce her settlement in lieu of full ownership.

But who knows, she's filthy rich either way.
