I think the old man was set up by the girl friend, working with Magic. Now Magic gets the team. What a coincidence.

My thought exactly when I saw the photo of the prostitute with Magic and then heard he was interested in buying the team.

Oh wait! A racist demoRAT?! Next you'll be saying demoRATs were in favor of slavery in the pre civil war south! Then you'll be saying it was demoRATs who wanted segregation in the 50s and 60s. What'll you say next, demoRATs were in favor of gun control just to keep guns out of the hands of blacks?

Amazing!

But as long as the demoRATs keep handing out corn bread and crack, everybody be happy.

NAACP = $ whores

So it should be no surprise that Donald Sterling has likes to throw money around to nonprofit charities. What’s troubling is why an organization like the NAACP, dedicated to eliminating racial injustice, should help Sterling whitewash his reputation.

Sterling, who turned 80 on Saturday, is one of the largest property owners and landlords in the Los Angeles area. He owns and manages about 119 apartment buildings with some 5,000 units, according to the U.S. Justice Department, which has sued him for discrimination.

In 2006, the Justice Department sued Sterling and his wife for excluding black tenants and favoring Korean tenants in some of their properties. According to the Los Angeles Times, Justice Department lawyers presented evidence that Sterling and his wife made statements “indicating that African Americans and Hispanics were not desirable tenants and that they preferred Korean tenants” occupy buildings they owned in Koreatown. Three years later, the Justice Department and Sterling reached a settlement. Sterling agreed to pay a record $2.7 million. It was, at the time, the largest settlement ever obtained by the U.S. Justice Department in a housing discrimination case involving rental apartments.

Yep...just like any business owner who takes all the risk....when the reward is great, people like Obama come up behind you telling you that you didn't build it and at some point, you have too much money. What a screwed up Country we've become.

Remember, as long as the left can capitalize from something illegal they will do it..but when roles are reversed(Such as John Kerry going on his anti Israel rant caught on tape) the left comes out and says “That was illegally obtained” LOL

Dude, where have you been? I don’t often see the law standing in the way of insanity on hot button legal issues. Do you? Should Trayvon’s case ever have seen a jury?

No, Trayvon's case shouldn't have gone to a jury. Zimmerman's lawyers could have made his self-defense argument prior to getting to trial, and may have been abloe to avoid going to trial at all. But they made a strategic decision not to do so.

As a caller pointed out to Rush today, Sterling is 81 years old and they probably won't be able to wring much more out of him.

Yahoo News pontificated earlier this afternoon that the way Sterling can make this up is to sell the Clippers to Magic Johnson.

And... (drumroll) ...the woman who made the recording is one of Magic Johnson's hoes.

Are you starting to see the pattern here?

Looks like the whole thing was a setup from the get-go to force Sterling to disgorge the team to Magic.

He is worth over a billion and 81 years old. I would do it out of spite. He probably has a little hide away somewhere.

Went looking for those “Secret NBA Bylaws” article 35.

http://deadspin.com/heres-the-secret-nba-rule-that-could-oust-donald-sterli-1568842613

MISCONDUCT

35. The provisions if this Article 35 shall govern all Players in the Association.

(a) Each Member shall provide and require in every contract with any of its Players that they shall be bound and governed by the provisions of this Article. Each Member, at the direction of the Board of Governors or the Commissioner, as the case may be, shall take such action as the Board or the Commissioner may direct in order to effectuate the purposes of this Article.

(b) The Commissioner shall direct the dismissal and perpetual disqualification from any further association with the Association or any of its Members, of any Player found by the Commissioner after a hearing to have been guilty of offering, agreeing, conspiring, siding or attempting to cause any game of basketball to result otherwise than on its merit.

(c) If in the opinion of the Commissioner any act or conduct of a Player at or during the Exhibition, Regular Season, or Playoff Game has been prejudicial to or against the best interests of the Association or the game of basketball, the Commissioner shall impose upon such Player a fine not exceeding $50,000, or may order for a time the suspension of any Player from any connection or duties with Exhibition, Regular Season, or Playoff Games, or he may order both such fine and suspension.

(d)The Commissioner shall have the power to suspend for a definite or indefinite period, or to impose a fine not exceeding $50,000, or inflict both such suspension and fine upon any Player who, in his opinion, (i) shall have made or caused to be made any statement having, or that was designed to have, an effect prejudicial or detrimental to the best interests of basketball or of the Association or of a Member, or (ii) shall have been guilty of conduct that does not conform to standards of morality or fair play, that does not comply at all times with all federal, state, and local laws, or that is prejudicial or detrimental or the Association.

(e) Any Player who, directly or indirectly, entices, induces, persuades or attempts to entice, induce, or persuade any Player, Coach, Trainer, General Manager or any other person who is under contract to any other Member of the Association to enter into negotiations for or relating to his services or negotiates or contracts for such services shall, on being charged with such tampering, be given an opportunity to answer such charges after due notice and the Commissioner shall have the power to decide whether or not the charges have been sustained; in the event his decision is that the charges have been sustained, then the Commissioner shall have the power to suspend such Player for a definite or indefinite period, or to impose a fine, not exceeding $50,000, or inflict both such suspension and fine upon any such Player.

(f) Any Player who, directly or indirectly, wagers money or anything of value on the outcome of any game played by a Team in the league operated by the Association shall, on being charged with such wagering, be given an opportunity to answer such charges after due notice, and the decision of the Commissioner shall be final, binding and conclusive unappealable. The penalty for such offense shall be within the absolute and sole discretion of the Commissioner and may include a fine, suspension, expulsion and/or perpetual disqualification from further association with the Association or any of its Members.

(g) Except for a penalty imposed under Paragraph (f) of this Article 35: (i) any challenge by a Team to the decisions and acts of the Commissioner pursuant to Article 35 shall be appealable to the Board of Governors, who shall determine such such appeals in accordance with such rules and regulations as may be adopted by the Board in its absolute and sole discretion, and (ii) any challenge by a Player to the decisions or acts of the Commissioner pursuant to Article 35 shall be governed by the provisions of Article XXXI of the NBA/NBPA Collective Bargaining Agreement then in effect. “

Under article 35, Silver has a weak position, but strong for players.

You have half a billion bucks to burn? I suspect Sterling doesn’t either.

He's worth about $1.9 billion. He's 81 and could probably manage to get along with the remaining $1.4 billion. Might be a little difficult, but I believe it could be done.

Recall that Rush Limbaugh was not even permitted the NFL to buy a team.

It likely is that it would take a majority of NBA owners to vote Sterling out of the league.

It would. A 3/4 majority vote, in fact.

And I doubt the owners gave the NBA Commish the unilateral power to remove an owner from his NBA team.

There is apparently a clause in the NBA constitution that gives the commissioner pretty broad powers to take action against owners who engage in "conduct detrimental to the league."

"You would lose."(a lawsuit)

Probably, but this is all about power. If Stirling wants to fight and make a huge disaster, he could spend a few million on the best investigators and litigation attorneys to dig up dirt on all his opponents and make this so radioactive that the NBA itself could be threatened with successive scandals.

He doth protest too much: ‘Racist’ LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling donated $135,000 to the Museum of Tolerance and African-American charities

‘UNCF has not had any conversation regarding returning money back to Donald Sterling,’ the group’s national communications director Anthony Owens said.

‘All funds raised by UNCF are used to provide scholarships to help get minority students to and through school and we would never ask the student to return the money.’

None of the other organizations responded to questions about whether they will send Sterling’s money back.

A separate $5,000 grant went to the Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP in 2010. That organization has rescinded its offer to present Sterling with its 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sterling has already won the honor once before, in 2009.

The grants came between 2009 and 2012. The foundation’s ‘Form 990’ tax return for 2013 is not yet due to the Internal Revenue Service.

There are a lot of real racists that give money to black causes, support and vote for black candidates only to hide their real hatred. It is like a homosexual marrying a wookie to try to hide his identity.

Too bad so many media forget its also illegal to make a tape like that in California to start with. low info/tech voters I reckun.

It was reported that Sterling previously requested his girlfriend to record their conversations as he often forgot key points of discussion with her and used the recordings as a refresher. Her attorney states she did not release the recording.
