A federal judge in Milwaukee has struck down Wisconsin's voter Identification law, saying it unfairly burdens poor and minority voters.
U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman issued his long-awaited decision Tuesday. It invalidates Wisconsin's law.
Wisconsin's law would have required voters to show a state-issued photo ID at the polls. Supporters said it would cut down on voter fraud and boost public confidence in the integrity of the election process.
But Adelman sided with opponents, who said it disproportionately excluded poor and minority voters because they're less likely to have photo IDs or the documents needed to get them.
Wisconsin's law was only in effect for a 2012 primary before a Dane County judge declared it unconstitutional.

Equal treatment under the law?
Good God never a moments peace in this State.
Walker talked about a special session specifically to redo Voter ID even ahead of this ruling.
The fact that poor people can’t be expected to have proper ID kinda helps explain all that WELFARE FRAUD too, doesn’t it?
Holy crap our so-called watchdogs of the law are even morons.
When the donkeys find out 0bamacare requires photo ID, they will be against it too.
” disproportionately excluded poor and minority voters because they’re less likely to have photo IDs or the documents needed to get them.”
Doesn’t stop them from getting EBT cards and the such. Just saying.
Do the poor and minorities have to show ID’s to get welfare benefits. I believe they do. Unfair burden?
Take Lynn out to the old oak and tar/feather her. Run her out of town...
This so far exceeds judicial authority it is a crime.
But Adelman sided with opponents, who said it disproportionately excluded poor and minority voters because they’re less likely to have photo IDs or the documents needed to get them.
This is absolutely a dispicable decision. Voting in this state is a waste of time and effort.
As in Kansas, I wonder if they can dig up even ONE eligible voter who is unable to obtain the proper I.D.
Something is un-Constitutional because it’s a burden?
My kid thinks brushing his teeth is a burden. Does that make it un-Constitutional?
Apparently this Adelman creep thinks so.
Put their picture on their EBT card.
Two vultures with one stone.
but you need a photo ID to get a LIBRARY CARD-
oOpps soory -forgot -they can`t READ
"Adelman was nominated by President Bill Clinton..."
‘We’re So Screwed’ PING!
She is a He, and he was nominated by Slick Willie
I like.
Simply have a state wide referendum on the ID and they can’t touch that law. SCOTUS HAS RULED!!
Perhaps people should simply not vote on anything in this country any more. Just give it to a judge first and let them decide. < /s>
