FBI Director James Comey told the Anti-Defamation League on Monday that he will require new FBI agents to visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, just as they must tour the Holocaust Museum as part of their training. […]

Much of Comey’s speech on Monday was devoted to hate crimes, which are different from other crimes, he said, because they affect entire communities, not just the individual. …

This guy is a collectivist. No, “hate crimes” are not different; just a different approach by law enforcement to try and control thought. (He did this last year, but not to the ADL.)

That’s why it irritates me so much when conservatives scream about people needing to be charged with hate crimes.

I realize a double standard is often applied but you don’t fix it by applying a bad law equally.

BTW 29 days and counting since the “hate crime” beating of a lesbian in Ypsilanti Michigan and still no more news.

Well as long as they put up a memorial dedicated to the suffrage of the white Christian conservatve that were persecuted and “bullied” at the hands of a Muslim president that they have to visit I have no problem with it....: )

I wonder if they will wander down to the National Archives and visit the Constitution too.

How many conservatives talk about hate crime charges? Are these of the type that oppose the fourteenth amendment in general?

“Hate crime” is criminalizing thought. I bet not a single Founding Father would support the criminalization of thought.

They might actually put up a monument as long as there is no reference to Christianity.

I think new and old FBI agents should be required to visit Waco and Ruby Ridge to learn how their operations went wrong. They should visit Ground Zero and learn about Able Danger and the 20th hijacker and see what happens when political correctness blinds agents and catastrophe occurs. The libs made that one female FBI agent a hero for awhile, until they went full dhimmi.

And what does the Holocaust have to do with the FBI? And really, what is that supposed to teach the FBI? Will the lesson be, what happens when government turns on its own people and treats them as enemies. I don’t think so. The Federal Government is treating some Americans as enemies, against which the fully weaponized bureaucracy has been turned. I extremely doubt that the FBI is being taught that lesson. They’re more likely to be taught that some Americans are enemies and how to go after them. And you know who the enemies of the Federal Government are.

How many conservatives talk about hate crime charges?

Virtually every single thread about a race or sexual preference related crime.

I have no problem with agents being informed on all fronts (MLK, Holocaust, Read and get tested on constitution, important cases, visits to churches, mosques, synagogues etc)

I don’t know how much of that is out of irony or missing sarcasm tags.

Either way, calling for hate crime charges in earnest is as far away from the Founding Fathers’ intention for this country as one can get.

I'm guessing that's a firing offence.

I’m kind of hypocritical on it myself.

While I don’t like hate crime laws I am happy to see Wayne county prosecutor Kym Worthy at least applying the laws equally. BUT, if the laws are applied equally, there should be no need for hate crime laws.

In theory I don’t disagree that agents should be informed on all fronts but where does it end? Trips to the Colombus Day Parade, St Patrick’s Cathedral, wounded knee, the japanese consolidation camps etc. I think having a broad knowledge of the Bill of Rights is sufficient for training purposes i.e. they are not hired as political action agents but as law enforcement officers.

Dirty little secret—but I’ll tell it to YOU........

HATE is not a crime.

It is an opinion, a thought process. There may be repercussions, but in a FREE society (ours is NOT) it must be legal.

Actions, not ‘HATE’ are the only things that should run afoul of the law.

While they are taking field trips, have the recruits stand at Cemetery Ridge at Gettysburg and overlook the area that so many gave their lives for what they believed. Visit the cornfield at Antietam and the Sunken Road at Shiloh while they are at it.

They’ll be required to visit the World’s Largest Ball of Twine before that.
