On April 20, 2014, Cliven Bundy, who is at the heart of a large confrontation with the Federal Government over land and property rights and the over-reach of the Federal Government as a result of the Bundy Cattle Ranch, made some caustic comments about race in America. Most of the networks are not playing Cliven Bundy's full comments. I think it important, despite the fact that his words have understandably caused an uproar, to have the full context of what he said. So, before he talked about seeing black Americans in the project houses in Las Vegas and wondering about their abortion rates and crime rates and comparing that to their earlier history, here is how he prefaced those statements...something you will not hear from the main stream press: "I was in the WATTS riot, I seen the beginning fire and I seen the last fire. What I seen was civil disturbance. People were not happy, people was thinking they did not have their freedom; that they didnt have these things...and they didnt have them. So, Cliven Bundy made it clear that he was not advocating that the clock be turned back. He indicated up front that "We sure don't want to go back." But then he went on, and got controversial. After talking about seeing black Americans in government subsidized housing in Las Vegas, he said: "They were basically on government subsidy so now what do they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never, they never learned how to pick cotton. And Ive often wondered were they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things? Or are they better off under government subsidy?" Sorry, Cliven, the answer is clear. Slavery was (and is) horrible and intolerable. They were not "better," off. Perhaps Mr. Bundy does not undertsand that in slavery in the South, many (but not all) families were broken up and sold off because they were viewed as proprty. So musings about their family life is not something that can be compared in the least, or in any way be romaticized. However, that does not mean that minorities are in a "good," circumstance either. By any objective measure, the current state of affairs for black Americans, while not comparable with slavery, is, nonetheless, intolerable for almost all of them caught up in the social dependancy programs advocated and pushed by the liberal progressive politicans of the day. And there are reasons this is so, and those reasons MUST be explored. Under liberal, progressive programs, upon which the American people have spent trillions of dollars, the traditional black family (in terms of the demographics and overall percentages) has been destroyed. This is a tragedy. In the vast majority of cases, for those who get caught up in these liberal/progressive welfare programs, there is no father in the home. The government and its "payments," have taken his place. In addition, in most cases, with food, housing, and other subsidies, there is little ongoing income in the home from those who work to earn it. The abortion rate amongst their young women is indeed abhoridly high. They are litterally killing off their rising generations before they are ever born. The crime rates and the incarceration rates amongst balck youth is extrodinarily high, far above the average.
The rate for women living below the poverty level, particularly black women, is over four times that for women living above it. INCARCERATION RATES BY RACE Why are all of these things so? Mr. Bundy's question about the state of affairs for these people today, while phrased completely inappropriately, and which is now being used to completely marginalize Bundy by people who, like Harry Reid, have institutionalized criminal behavior and shady dealings, is an important question. However, the thing that really scares the progressive left, is that this question, if phrased properly, would be compelling. and it would be critical, particularly for black American, to sincerely ask themselves...and to explore all of the facts associated with it. And the left knows it, and fears it. Simply stated: Have these government subsidy programs, which have produced these abysmal conditions and demographics, and which have themselves been designed to entrap whole peoples into a dependancy cycle engineered to harvest votse...have they worked? Are the people who are living under such programs and conditions better off under such a system than they would be if they simply engaged in today's traditional American, free enterprise life style? The answer to that question is obvious and clear. The answer is a resounding NO, they are not! All one need do is look at those who have forsaken the dependancy life style and the associated programs so that they, themselves, could get into main stream America, and then compare their life styles, their families, their crime rates, their income levels to those who do not. There is no comparison...and the liberal, progressive left knows it. Black and Latino Americans: For God's Sake, Wake up ! These is are the conditions that the progressive liberals do not want discussed. They do not want it explored. Objectively exploring it would quickly become an abject indictment against their policies...and reveal them for what they are. Those policies themselves are extremely bigoted towards anyone who gets caught up in them, particularly Blacks and Latinos. They are because they pre-suppose that those people require the help of liberal progressives in order to have any chance of achieving anything in America. It presuppose that without help from them, those people would not be capable of achieving anything. Such a notion itself is bigoted and racist. Those people, who have been created by God, are capable of engagining and making something of themselves themselves, without liberal dependencies. The basic progressive liberal suppostion behind these programs is a lie. In fact, it is worse than a lie. These programs entrap people and virtually ensure that they will NEVER make anything better of themselves under the American system. They have been engineered to deny the people caught up in them participation in the American system. That's what they are designed to do, and they are desinged that way so that those people will constantly be dependent on the politicians who promise them all of these subsidies so that they will always vote for them. That is why they refer to them as "their," voting block. If discussed openly and fairly, it would reveal the dastardly, horrible...and immoral and criminal behavior...of the liberal progressives who establish such programs, and the race hustlers (like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson) who support them and have gotten rich off of making a career of promoting them and attacking anyone who dares oppose them. That's the simple, direct truth. These programs are holding people down, and are set up to keep it that way. The reason is as old as this earth. It is about power. Those politicans want to always count on their "voting block," and thus perpetuate their power. While it is certainly not a physical slavery, it is insidious just the same. The fact is, you can tell by the actions of the politicans who support these programs, by their shrill opposition to any scrutiny of these things, and by their determination to squash and destroy anyone who attempts to expose this sad state of affairs, that the people promoting these programs certainly consider the blacks and the hispanics, and anyone else who fall into their clutches, to be their electoral "property." And they are as committed to retaining that "ownership," and that "property," as strongly and with as much force and compulsion as any southern plantation owner ever was. In that sense, although phrased wholly inappropriatley, Cliven Bundy's question about today's state of minorities who are caught up in this cycle of dependancy, hits the mark. The progrewssive liberal politicans and hustlers will not...indeed, in their mind they cannot...tolerate it. Former supporters of Bundy in his fight against the Federal government will now be labeled as racists themselves if they continue to support anything assoiciated with Bundy. That's why many of those supporters are now shrinking away from him under that threat of a racist label. Instead, they should recognize the true issues at stake here and continue the fight against an all intrusive federal government. A government where particular agencies daily commit wanton over-reach. They should also raise the topic of the tradtional American way of life, and its focus on fundamental moral values and everyone being created equal, with equal opportunity. They should strive to inform and raise up all those caught up in this awful, paralyzing, dependancy cycle. A cycle which has been created by those liberal progressives and officials who themselves have stated that their goal is to fundamentally change the American system. It is clear that they continue to do all in the power to accomplish that goal. We must continue to stand up and defeat them. Jeff Head April 25th, 2014 Note: Here are some of the statistics that bear out the failure of these subsidy/welfare programs, and the conditions that they place people who become a part of them in:

I will not make light off him, and give him a LOT of credit and respect for that...and believe despite whatever level of sophistication you think he lacks, that he can see more clearly than the vast majority.
He is speaking because the issue about his Ranch is close and personal. He has every right to do so, whether you happen to think he is eloquent enough or educated enough to do so.
He represents the core of the working and free people in this nation...that counts for a wjole lot with me.
So he does have nobody to blame but himself.
He is doing all he can to defend what he views as his way of life and freedom.
And...his comments on blacks and Mexicans have what to do with that exactly?
Folks who ranch all of their lives are not what you may consider "sophisticated," but they can generally spot a ringer from a mile off, and he knows down trodden people when he sees them.
Then his vision failed on this one.
I had viewed CNN just a half an hour ago. I saw Wolf Blitzer with two persons. One was a Paul Begala. Sickened, I turned it off. They were going full tilt on the racism aspect.
I hope to be excused a digression on the subject here. One word has in the past been used to utterly and completely destroy people who got in someone's way. Today it is "Racist". The word "Nazi" is also used, but with hardly the same effect.
At another time in history, there was an Inquisition. Their power was absolute. The word used at that time to destroy and render a person to torture or death was "Heretic". I would describe people like the Nevada politician, Harry Reid and the Begala type as Inquisitors.
Merciless opportunists to say the least.
Sorry for the length but it’s almost impossible to deal with this topic in the 30 second attention span of the distressingly “average” voter today.
Thank you GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS AND TELEVISION.
But he didn't. Nobody held a gun to his head and forced him to hold his presser and say what was on his mind. So he has nobody to blame but himself.
And gave a dumb answer. Lesson one should be don't talk to reporters. Lesson two should be if you ignore lesson one then restrict your comments to your problem with the BLM and keep your socialogical observations to yourself.
How could chattel slavery be preferable to anything?
There is, and there is nothing to be served by running in terror when the media accuses us of being racist for daring to mention it.
Bravo on seizing the initiative and putting the focus where it belongs. I only wish we could get the NY Times to publish what you have said here.
I only with more people responded reasonably put the onus back on the liberals and the government instead of thowing Bundy under the bus and backing over him.
The Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton answer to all these rates is white man and his slavery. Jessie and Al will refuse to note that slavery rates are extremely high in the Middle East and Africa today and the Muslims, both Arab and Black, are the instigators. It is always someone else’s fault. Black have had 50 years or more of free government hand outs and have allowed themselves to become slaves to the federal government for these handouts.
Jeff, forgive me the cut and paste from another thread.
I guess you havent heard. Beck and others have declared Bundy is just a reprehensible racist and probably deserves what the BLM was about to do to him.
Incredible! Frankly, I could give a rats ass. Well, that is a bit overstated. Still, it strikes me that this gentleman was willing to put his and his sons lives on the line. Not just willing but actually DID. To abandon him because the NY Slimes brands him racist seems to me to be ungrateful. God Forbid the gummint come for me and Beck discovers I am a smoker. OMG, and I brew beer, too. Worse, I dont pay tax on my smokes! I grow my own.
Yes he did.
If he started carping, on TV, about Sheriff Arpaio and Hussein’s forged BC, then Hussein would face a choice:
Abandon the Bundy Ranch episode (and leave Bundy alone).
Or...
Let an elderly rancher sit on TV every day raising awareness about the Cold Case Posse and their upcoming revelations on Obama Fraud.
Either way is a win for Bundy. Would the ‘win’ be decisive? My crystal ball cannot know.
Beck can kiss my ass. I no longer listen to him. I no longer pull up his paper. As far as I am concerned, Glen Beck does not exist. The issue is not Bundy and never was. The issue is, can the Government use its power to murder a legal landowner and his family and then give said property to a powerful and in my opinion a crooked and corrupt politician. And much to my disgust, the answer, from an all too many on this forum is a resounding yes.
h it will not be on TV unless its heavily edited to make him look bonkers
nobody said it was
“It will not be on TV unless its heavily edited to make him look bonkers.”
Probably correct for MSM outlets.
Web, maybe not.
Other than Bundy. He wondered if it wasn't better than they had now.
Bookmark for later read.
He needed to realize, and it is hard to comprehend at times, that a person of his position and visibility to the national media needs to have someone well versed in what to say in public and what not to say. In other words - he needs a good PR firm.
In world governed by lies and wishful thinking, telling the truth is a radical act and will get you trouble.
