Las Vegas, NV – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement today on racist comments by Cliven Bundy reported by the New York Times.
“I used to live in North Las Vegas and it is home to some of the hardest-working people I have ever met – men and women who embody the American dream by working hard every day to build a better life for themselves and their families. By contrast, Cliven Bundy has spent decades profiting off government land while refusing to pay the same fair use fees as his fellow ranchers. Today, Bundy revealed himself to be a hateful racist. But by denigrating people who work hard and play by the rules while he mooches off public land he also revealed himself to be a hypocrite.
“To advance his extreme, hateful views, Bundy has endangered the lives of innocent women and children. This is not a game. It is the height of irresponsibility for any individual or entity in a position of power or influence to glorify or romanticize such a dangerous individual, and anyone who has done so should come to their senses and immediately condemn Bundy. For their part, national Republican leaders could help show a united front against this kind of hateful, dangerous extremism by publicly condemning Bundy.
“The bottom line is that elected officials and those in positions of power or influence have a responsibility to unite behind the basic principle that we are a country of laws, and that whatever our differences, it is unacceptable for individuals to use violence or the threat of violence to advance their radical views.”

Also don't appreciate phoney baloney's like Hannity putting Bundy and his family in the spotlight sans lawyers or advisers and then bailing on them the minute some communist puts out a hit piece.
The GOP and Fox News have started doing this, based on what I've seen today. The GOP is airing political ads that feauture Reid negatively. And Megyn Kelly is questioning why Reid is speaking out against Bundy.
Unfortunately, Bundy lacks the tact and artfulness to make his point about black dependency on government.

Exactly; Bundy gave them a gift. Pretty hard to support a guy who basically said slavery wasn’t all that bad. Had he correctly pointed out that the modern big government Democrat created welfare state has created similar effects to slavery; then he would have been correct.
The attention needs to go back on Harry Reid and how he and his son were going to profit from a Chinese company wanting the land.

This is exactly what Reid has been waiting for since this began-—now he can move in with impunity and a majority of America will be “on his side”Someone should have advised Bundy not to grace the media, and hence the entire country with his social theories, but he seems bound and determined to throw stones in his own path. Now the water is TOTALLY muddied, and the original issues at play at the start are slithering down the drain, never to be brought up again.and think back just a few months-—isn’t what Bundy said just a stronger and more non-nuanced sentiment than the one that came out of the mouth of the elder Robertson of Duck Dynasty?
This is to rile up the Rat base for the elections this Fall.
I am sure he will - from what I hear is poll numbers are dropping rapidly and his re-election is far from certain at this point.
