"That's exactly what I said. I said I'm wondering if they're better off under government subsidy, and their young women are having the abortions and their young men are in jail, and their older women and their children are standing, sitting out on the cement porch without nothing to do, you know, I'm wondering: Are they happier now under this government subsidy system than they were when they were slaves, and they was able to have their family structure together, and the chickens and garden, and the people had something to do? And so, in my mind I'm wondering, are they better off being slaves, in that sense, or better off being slaves to the United States government, in the sense of the subsidies. I'm wondering. That's what. And the statement was right. I am wondering."

I give the guy a lot of credit. He stands for something. I even understanding the idea behind his thought.
Unfortunately, this will distract from the issue he is standing for.
If it is just what is excerpted above we have all wondered that. To extend into some kind of justification of slavery would be a problem, IMHO.
No one is better off as a slave. He’s focusing on the welfare group, not the black achievers - and there are many - including some I work with and admire.
I wish he’d stick to the land issue where he is on way better footing.
Make it a good day, all! :’)
Rand Paul: Bundys racist remarks are offensive
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3148135/posts
There is video of Bundy saying what was reported by the Times. Bundy wanted exposure ... and got what he wanted ... probably not the outcome he was hoping for.
Whatever merits Bundy thought he had are now lost (IMO) to the distraction over his own comments.
Good for him!
Unfortunately I think his understanding of how most slaves were treated is wrong, but I don’t think he has any bad intentions. Of course, not many will forgive him for that.
It’s the NYT. Before the month is out, the all-out smear campaign will have him painted as a racist, homophobe who spends his evenings goose stepping to German march music while dressed in an SS uniform, and the Bundy ranch will be referred to from now on as the Bundy “compound.”
for years the left has been whining for a discussion about race, adn now that it arrives, they condemn it.
I understand it, too. Poorly communicated, but not without merit.
Something like "It's a shame that blacks fought so long and hard to get out of slavery. And now the government has gotten blacks and whites enslaved in poverty, violence and welfare...and worse their policies have broken up families and lives."
He’s entitled to his opinion and I agree with much of what he’s said, but he’s now a public figure and public figures need to learn the First Rule of Holes.
The MSM will whip this up so Reid’s comments on American patriots being “domestic terrorist” can go away.
“I wish hed stick to the land issue where he is on way better footing.”
Yeah, never fails. When conservations get a roll going on some issue, somebody sticks one foot in their mouth and the other one up their @$$.
These days you could send someone to a park and video him signing people up for slavery.
Nice.
Bundy just invalidated everything he has done in the eyes of the Sheeple with this.
WELL HARRY REID SAID SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s not racist, but it will never be understood by the media and the race hustlers. And the politicians will side with the race hustlers because they get all the air time and all the talking heads.
So, Mr Bundy, a bit of advice. And this is for every conservative. Never give your thoughts on race, never write your thoughts on race, never EXPRESS your thoughts on race in any way, shape, or form.
They “can and WILL be used AGAINST you.”
How to you know how most slaves were treated?
